When Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, or the Royal Sussexes as they are called, suddenly decided to up and leave the monarchy (technically, that is), the world was shook. And none more so than the Royal Family itself. Harry and Meghan did what they thought was the best for them, and accordingly took steps to protect their and their son’s future. But far from being the supportive brother and sister-in-law, it seems Prince William and Kate Middleton might be carrying some grudges of their own.
Ever since the 2017 betrothal and the subsequent 2018 wedding, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have not been having an easy time of it. The press scrutiny on their lives has not only bordered on the invasive, but it has also been shadowed with racial overtones, especially in the UK. To say that the couple, who were blessed with a boy in 2019 were facing a tough choice would be understating the case. So Prince Harry and Meghan Markle took a firm stand and bowed out of the Royal Family, with grace.
For the public, it seemed that Queen Elizabeth II welcomed the Sussexes’ decision only too easily as she released a press note that said that she was pleased with the outcome of the many discussions the entire family had, and the solution they had mutually reached. She went on to state that Harry, Meghan, and Archie would always be beloved members of her family, but she recognized the intense pressure on them due to media scrutiny, and their decision to distance themselves.
But that doesn’t mean that the decision or should we say Megxit, was truly welcomed by all. Sources say that both Prince William and Kate Middleton have considered Harry and Meghan’s decision to up and leave for Canada a blow to the monarchy, and disrespectful to the Queen, as well as the Royal Family. While both Prince William and Kate Middleton have kept mum about the proceedings, it is now being said that the Queen is wrung out from it all, emotionally and physically.
With Prince Harry and Meghan Markle absolving themselves of their royal duties, the slack will have to be picked by none other than Prince William and Kate Middleton. And this means the added pressure on them may prove to be intense considering they already keep very busy hours, and are parents themselves. This may also be another reason for the resentment so being reported by the media because with the Sussexes not being here for half a year, the Cambridges will have to giddy up even more.
