America's Got Talent is getting a break from all the drama that has encompassed its reputation, well kind of. After the completion of the last season of AGT, it was announced that judges Julianne Hough and Gabrielle Union would not be returning, after only being on the show for one season.

Drama and a subsequent investigation into the show and network practices was initiated following claims by Union that there were racist and discriminatory behaviors on the program by judges and other personnel. While an investigation was, in fact, underway, the new season gives the show a fresh start. For the upcoming season, Hiedi Klum will be returning, along with the addition of Sofia Vergara, the 'Modern Family' star.

It was just announced that Modern Family had wrapped up its final episode, ending a run of 11 years for the hit show. On the program, Vergara played Gloria Pritchett, the bombastic Latina wife that was as ridiculous as she was funny.

Vergara had the chance to speak with Buzzfeed news about the opportunity she had playing Gloria on the show and what she'll miss. "Gloria has such a great life and such a beautiful family that I think anything that the writers have prepared for her, I’m going to be happy with," she said. "I’m sure that it’s gonna be great, like all the seasons’ finales." Vergara also mentioned that it's going to be hard for her to move on from the show.

Fortunately, being brought on to AGT will give Vergara something else to do while the final season of Modern Family airs. Following the announcement that Klum would be returning and Vergara would be an addition, each released their own personal statements.

"I’m so excited to be back at AGT with Simon, Howie, and Terry [Crews.] The fact that Sofia Vergara is joining us is the icing on an already delicious cake," Klum shared in her statement. Vergara was equally as excited, especially as the first Latin judge to appear on the show.

"I am so happy to join my new family on AGT. This is a new and exciting next chapter for me and I’m extremely proud to be the first Latin judge on the show. I can’t wait to watch all the new talent and have fun with all you guys!" Vergara said in her statement about appearing on AGT.

The experience will no doubt be different from her, as she's been on a scripted show for more than a decade. Vergara spoke about how it would be different for her once the taping begins.

"[It's] something completely different than I thought I was going to do after Modern Family," the actress said about joining AGT. "I thought it was the perfect opportunity to do something different after 10 years of such a fantastic TV show. I didn’t think I was going to get something like that, but I think it’s better to mix it up for a while."
