Jeff Lewis believes Vicki Gunvalson and Tamra Judge were cut from The Real Housewives of Orange County cast due to the money they were making on the show.
According to a report from The Cheat Sheet on February 29, Lewis recently spoke to Judge on his SiriusXM Radio show, Jeff Lewis Live, where the two of them discussed the recent end of Judge’s role on the reality series.
As fans have surely heard, both Gunvalson and Judge announced their exits from the show on Instagram at the end of January.
After Judge revealed that Andy Cohen, creator of the Real Housewives franchise, recently told her to hold off on accepting other show offers because she may be coming back to The Real Housewives of Orange County next year, Lewis suspected that if she was asked to appear on season 15, her salary would likely be “half” of what she made for season 14.
“I think it’s all about money [and] that advertisers are not paying what they used to,” he shared.
According to Lewis, he believes Bravo got rid of two of its longest running stars of The Real Housewives of Orange County in an effort to cut costs after the series became less profitable than it once was.
“I don’t think it’s as profitable as it was and I think they have to go through and they have to cost-cut,” he suggested.
Gunvalson announced she was leaving The Real Housewives of Orange County at the end of January and one day later, Judge made the same announcement.
During her chat with Lewis, Judge confirmed she had received offers to do other shows before revealing what Cohen told her about her future with Bravo.
“It was a job to me and when this job ended, I never thought, ‘Oh my gosh, I’m going to get another show,’ because I don’t have agents,” Judge said. “Well, I’ve been approached. Andy told me to hold off on signing any kind of contract, run it past him first cause he says that I’ll be back next year.”
“Tamra is working out a deal that would bring her back for more than three episodes for between $20-25,000,000 each,” the source said. “She didn’t like just being on three episodes. She was being phased out and she knew it and wanted to control the narrative.”
“They need her to spice it up,” the source added.
