Ivanka Trump Shares Bizarre Doctored Images on Twitter After Trip to India

Ivanka Trump seems to be following in her father's footsteps when it comes to tweeting out doctored photos for a laugh. As with President Donald Trump's Photoshopped picture of his head atop Rocky Balboa's half-naked body, Ivanka's series of Photoshopped tweets on Sunday inspired confusion more than anything else.

Eyebrows raised and tongues wagged as Ivanka retweeted a series of clearly Photoshopped photos in which she posed next to various Indian men she had never actually met; "I made many new friends," she captioned the post, while thanking the Indian people for their "warmth."

In the post she retweeted, originally crafted by journalist Aditya Chaudhary, a teenager took the place of Ivanka's husband Jared Kushner in one photo, an older man grabbed her wrist outside the Taj Mahal in another, and in the third, Ivanka balanced implausibly on the back of a bicycle while a young man pedaled in front.

"This is creepy, even for you," one follower responded to Ivanka's retweet. "Extremely creepy and chilling," another commented. "What is she trying to convey here. Is it that she is attractive to Indian men and that they desire her? That family is just creepy and toxic. I at one time wanted to know why they did what they did. But I'm past that point. I don't want to know."

To be fair to Ivanka, there is a story behind the doctored photos, if you look deeper—and possibly a funny one, depending on your sense of humor.

It began earlier on Sunday with Indian actor-singer Diljit Dosanjh posting a Photoshopped photo of himself posing next to Ivanka in front of the Taj Mahal, the monument of love. He wrote: "Me & Ivanka Piche hee Pey Gaee Kehndi Taj Mahal Jana Taj Mahal Jana..#tajmahal Mai Fer Ley Geya Hor Ki Karda (She was after my life to take her to Taj Mahal. So I took her, what else could I have done?)"

Ivanka, who visited India on the 24th to the 25th with her husband, Jared Kushner, as part of President Donald Trump's entourage, was quick to insert herself into the joke by retweeting the photo with the jocular caption, "Thank you for taking me to the spectacular Taj Mahal, @diljitdosanjh! It was an experience I will never forget!"

Diljit carried the joke on, responding "OMG Athithi devo bhava Thnx @IvankaTrump I Tried Explaining Everybody that it's not a Photoshop. See You Soon ... Next Visit LUDHIANA For Sure."

The tongue-in-cheek Twitter exchange prompted a flurry of Photoshop jobs across the Internet, among them Aditya Chaudhary's—which itself merely aggregated earloier examples of the joke, such as the bicycle photo, which was originally captioned "You Forgot your Bicycle Driver Who Took You to the Taj Mahal.. Katti." Perhaps dragging the joke out a little too long, Ivanka retweeted those photos as well, prompting the confusion.

Savvy social media users noted that Diljit didn't actually tag Ivanka in the original post, and that Ivanka must have been searching her own name on Twitter to find the new if trending post. How very Trumpian.
