Saved By The Bell was a spin-off sitcom show of Good Morning, Miss Bliss (from 1988 to 1989), and aired from August 20, 1989 to May 22, 1993. The show followed a group of high school friends and their principal, Mr. Belding (played by Dennis Haskins). It was a basic comedy hit but the writers wanted to make sure that the show also covered serious matters such as: drug use, homelessness, driving under the influence, women's rights and environmental issues. The series starred Mark-Paul Gosselaar, Dustin Diamond, Lark Voorhies, Dennis Haskins, Tiffani-Amber Thiessen, Elizabeth Berkley, and Mario Lopez.

"As far as I know, she will be in an episode or two with me," Gosselaar told TVLine. "She was, at the time, working on Netflix’s Alexa & Katie." Gosselaar added that the duo’s limited number of episodes together "wasn’t necessarily because of our desire to do it," but "more of a commitment to other things."

Josie Totah will star in the lead role of Lexi, a popular and sharp-tongued cheerleader.

Gosselaar will guest star in three episodes of the reboot set to debut on NBCUniversal’s streaming service Peacock, set to launch in April 2020. He'll also serve as an executive producer. Saved by the Bell alums Mario Lopez and Elizabeth Berkley will also reprise their roles as A.C. Slater and Jessie Spano.
