Other than the unfortunate situation with Henry Ruggs III, Aaron Rodgers’ COVID status has been the other major story in the NFL this week. The quarterback contracted COVID-19 and won’t be eligible to play versus the Kasnsas City Chiefs. The biggest issue that folks are having with the news is that Rodgers had mentioned that he was “immunized” prior to the season. Now though reports indicate that Rodgers never got any of the approved COVID vaccine shots. On the Pat McAfee Show this Friday Rodgers explained his “immunized” comment. While even taking some time to throw shade at anti-vaxxers! Meanwhile, sports analysts such as Stephen A. Smith are calling for the quarterback to receive a major suspension from the league.
Why Aaron Rodgers Says He Didn’t Lie When He Was Asked The Vaccine Question
As we mentioned Rodgers answered a question about his vaccination status by saying that he had, “been immunized”. He told Pat McAfee and AJ Hawk though that he was immunized with a drug called ivermectin. This drug has not been approved by the FDA to treat ailments such as COVID-19. However, Rodgers mentioned that he did personal research on the drug and felt that, that was the best way to attack the situation moving forward.
The Packers Quarterback Threw Shade At The Anti-vax Crowd
The reason that Rodgers did want to get a shot of the 3 main COVID vaccines that are available in the country was because he is reportedly allergic to an ingredient found in the Moderna and Pfizer vaccines. As far as J&J goes that one was out of the question because he’d heard of some people that had, had adverse reactions to the shot. In his rant he made sure to distance himself from folks like Kyrie Irving, and the anti-vaxx crowd. Even going as far as to mock folks who hold those beliefs. He mentioned,
“I’m not an anti-vaxx, flat-earther, I am somebody who is a critical thinker”. He then added, “I have an allergy to an ingredient that’s in the mRNA vaccines. I found a long term immunization protocol to protect myself & I’m very proud of the research that went into that”

Sports Analysts Calling For The Quarterback To Be Suspended
As the news was spreading that Aaron Rodgers was unvaccinated sports broadcaster Stephen A. Smith who has long been a supporter of Rodgers turned on the Green Bay quarterback. As he argued that Rodgers should receive a major suspension from the NFL since he lied about his vaccination status.
What Rodgers is saying to those claims is that the NFL did know that he was in fact unvaccinated. The league does not force players to be vaccinated to be able to play in games. What it does do is force unvaccinated players to follow stricter COVID protocols. An argument could be made that Rodgers did not effectively follow the protocols set for an unvaccinated player. High profile unvaccinated players like Colts quarterback Carson Wentz, even wear a mask on the sidelines during games. Rodgers essentially has approached his job as he always has without following different protocols.
