Nick Jonas got candid about managing diabetes and his latest partnership to make life easier for others battling the condition.
The third “Jonas Brothers” member was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes at age 13 and takes constant medication because his body creates little to no insulin.
The singer opened up about his challenges with diabetes and how he’s making a difference for others with the condition.

As National Diabetes Awareness Month begins, Jonas spoke to PEOPLE about life with diabetes.

The musician said it took time to figure out how to count carbs, do insulin properly and figure out what would affect him following his diagnosis.
“When I was first diagnosed, I was sitting in the hospital and was scared to death,” Jonas said of his experience at age 13.

The “Chains” singer added that it would have been amazing to have someone to look up to who was following their dreams without letting diabetes slow them down.
Despite the 16-year management of his Diabetes, Jonas says his grip on the condition is pretty good as it can be unpredictable. “There will be good days, and bad days, the star added.”
The “Happiness Begins” Singer Partners With Dexcom To Manage Diabetes
Jonas is the latest partner of glucose monitoring system Dexcom which links its users to an app.
The star told PEOPLE that having tools like Dexcom allows people to easily track their numbers in real-time through the company’s Global Movement for Time in Range initiative.
Jonas also advised others to lean on their support systems through their diabetes journey. He depends on his siblings Joe Jonas and Kevin Jonas, and his wife, Priyanka Chopra.
The “Jumanji” actor highlighted the importance of the mental and emotional health aspects of diabetes, adding that he has a therapist and great doctors.
Jonas also has a non-profit, Beyond Type 1, dedicated to uniting the worldwide diabetes community and offering solutions through grants and more.
The star said that diabetes is a life-long battle and everyone’s journey differs but staying abreast, and open-minded will allow people to live their “happiest and healthiest life.”
Chopra And Jonas Enjoy Rare Fall Date
Jonas and Chopra have hectic schedules and have not been seen on dates since Jonas has been on tour. Elle reported that the stars had a casual Beverly Hills date on November 1.
The couple was dressed in matching black jeans. Chopra wore a green and white varsity jacket while her husband went all-black with his top and Jacket.
The “Isn’t It Romantic” actress kept it simple with black sneakers and a bag while ‘the gentleman’ Jonas carried their shopping bags.
While speaking with ELLE UK, Chopra praised her and Jonas’s management teams for helping their almost three-year union thrive with long-distance. The “Quantico” actress said:
“Wherever we are in the world, we fly to each other at least once a month for a couple of days. It was our rule when we first got married.”
Chopra laughed, saying they would never see each other otherwise. She explained that their management teams keep in constant contact and help to synchronize the free windows in their schedules.
“It’s like a big marriage. It’s not just us but our families and teams, too,” the 39-year-old concluded.
