Black men and women have been killing the horror game lately and they've been staying alive while doing it.

On April 23, 2020 'Antebellum' starring Janelle Monae. Most people were intrigued when the teaser trailer dropped, especially when they thought Jordan Peele was involved. This however, is a film by Gerard Bush and his writing and directing partner Christopher Renz.

The trailer shows Monae in the field as a slave, but then we see her in what appears to be living life in the present day. Many have mistaken the film for an adaptation of Octavia E. Butler's novel, Kindred, but the two works are not related.

The film will be directed by Darren Lynn Bousman. It is the 9th installment of the popular franchise.

'Spiral' isn't the only horror film we will see featuring people of color. Since the 'Candyman' trailer dropped on February 27th the memes are already floating around. Expect to see a great production with Nia DaCosta director.

There was speculation that it was Peele's idea to add Beyonce's, "Say My Name" to the trailer. A Twitter user suggested it came from Peele and DaCosta retweeted and did not deny what the user posted. Peele has already proven to be a force to be reckoned with. We believe DaCosta will prove to be the same.
