It was reported on Friday morning by the Los Angeles Times that members of the L.A. County Sheriff’s Department had allegedly leaked photos of the Kobe Bryant helicopter crash site.
TMZ has gathered more information about the leak from source, who said “multiple L.A. County Sheriff’s deputies who responded to the crash scene took photos that included remains.”
Even more egregious is that one of the deputies reportedly used the photos in an attempt to impress a woman.
It was also reported that one of the deputies took the photos and went to a bar with a source alleging to TMZ that “he tried to impress a girl by showing her the photos.” That’s when a bartender overheard the conversation and filed an online complaint to the sheriff’s department.
The photos have reportedly also been passed around by first responders to the crash. Capt. Jorge Valdez, the head of the sheriff’s information bureau, said his offices informed family members of the crash victims because the Times “inquired” about the images. It’s not known what’s shown on the photos, but the sheriff’s department is looking into the matter.
The news of this reported leak comes just days after the celebration of life memorial for Bryant and his daughter Gianna was held at the Staples Center.
Among the many who spoke about the two were Kobe’s wife, Vanessa.
“I couldn’t see him as a celebrity, nor as an incredible basketball player. He was my sweet husband and the beautiful father of our children. He was mine. He was my everything,” Vanessa said about Bryant. “… He would do anything for me. I have no idea how I deserved a man that loved and wanted me more than Kobe. He was charismatic, a gentleman. He was loving, adoring and romantic.”
“Gianna Bryant is an amazingly sweet and gentle soul,” Vanessa said. “She was always thoughtful. She always kissed me goodnight and kissed me good morning. There were a few occasions where I was absolutely tired from being up with Bianka and Capri and I thought she had left for school without saying goodbye. I text and say ‘No kiss?’ and Gianna would reply with, ‘Mama, I kissed you but you were asleep and I didn’t want to wake you.'”
“She knew how much her morning and evening kisses meant to me. She was so thoughtful to remember to kiss me every day,” she continued. “She was Daddy’s girl but I know she loved her mama. She would always tell me and show me how much she loved me. She was one of my very best friends. She loved faith, she loved putting a smile on everyone’s faces.”
