Kristin Cavallari stars in a popular E! reality series titled Very Cavallari. In a recent episode, she opened up about how her marriage to former NFL star Jay Cutler almost didn’t happen. There was a time that she called off their engagement and even returned the ring. Thankfully the pair were able to work through their anxieties and get back together eventually tying the knot. They now enjoy a strong marriage and share beautiful children but it didn’t happen overnight.
When Kristin describes the beginning of her relationship with Jay Cutler it’s a head-spinning whirlwind. When she told a friend the chain of events that led to her engagement to Cutler she had this to say: “So, I met Jay when I was 23. I was a f***ing baby, but he told me he loved me after two months, and then he proposed after eight months, and it all just moved so fast.”. It’s clear that she didn’t feel secure.
Before heading out on a group camping trip Cavallari opened up to one of her closest friends. He confided in her that he was feeling pressure to get married to his boyfriend. Kristen was engaged at the time. He asked her how she knew it was right. As she thought about her reply it became clear to her that she wasn’t sure it was right and there were areas of the relationship she wanted to improve before making a lifetime commitment.
Kristen grew up with divorced parents. She began to question if marriage was right for her. She looked back on the moment she called off her engagement: “I remember we were in L.A. and I gave him back this ring, and I watched him walk out the door and ended up really missing him,”. Cavallari describes the moment which obviously did not mean the couple’s relationship was truly over. She realized how much Jay meant to her when the two parted ways.
Eventually, the pair got back together. Cavallari knew exactly when she was ready to finally tie the knot with Jay: “And then I get pregnant with Camden, and that’s when I really changed how I felt about marriage. That’s when we got married and I’m so happy that I did.”. For many people having children can make them feel ready for marriage. It’s a major life milestone that two people undertake together that bonds them in a truly unique way.
Once Cavallari knew she was ready to marry Jay the rest just fell into place. The two were pregnant with their eldest child Camden when they decided to finally seal the deal. After that, they welcomed two more children into their family; Jaxon and Saylor. In an interview, Cavallari has said she’s done having children. She feels her family is now complete. Cavallari went on to say that each person must decide for themselves if marriage is right for them.
