David Beasley, director of UN’s World Food Programme put out a call to action for the world’s richest people to donate to the program.

Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla, was the only billionaire to respond to the plea.

Beasley noted that if Musk donated 2% of his net worth, it would save 42 million people from starvation

Dr. Eli David fact checked Beasley’s calculations.

David noted that 2% of Musk’s net worth is $6 billion – which is less than the $8.4 billion the program raised in 2020.

The Tesla titan tweeted that if the organization could prove that his donation would solve the problem, he would contribute.

Beasley replied to Musk’s tweet – and the narrative was that Musk’s $6 billion donation would help worldwide instability.

The director also said millions of people are on the verge of dying due to the pandemic’s adverse effects and famine.

Musk asked for his donation to go through a public balance sheet so the people would know what the money was being used for.
