As the world continues to mourn the loss of NBA legend Kobe Bryant and his daughter Gianna, his sister is doing it in a unique way according to her Instagram post on Wednesday. Kobe and Gianna perished in the 26th January helicopter crash at Calabasas, along with seven other victims.
Sharia Washington, Kobe’s elder sister is the latest of the basketball star’s family to take to social media in honor of her fallen brother. The family is processing the loss of a son, as Vanessa mourns her love.
Sharia’s new tattoo features a black mamba snake that appears as an infinity symbol and wrapped around the numbers 2 and 24. The number 2 represents Gianna’s jersey, while 24 is Kobe’s. Sharia’s Instagram post’s black mamba portrays Kobe Bryant’s nickname, which he incorporated into several facets in his life.
Her move is, however, not the first time the sister is taking to Instagram on the death of her brother. She along with her sister Shaya Tabb released a touching statement, about a week following the tragic crash.
Sharia and Shaya were devastated sisters going by the joint statement they released following their brother’s death. They broke their silence with the account which they claimed was on behalf of the family, saying they all join Vanessa, Natalia, Bianka, and Capri in grieving the loss of Kobe and Gianna, and that their lives had changed completely.
They, however, notably did not touch only on their own, going ahead to send their hearts to all the families that had suffered a loss following the helicopter crash.
Earlier in the week, Kobe Bryant and his daughter were remembered by friends and family in an emotional memorial service. His wife was among the first persons to speak, where she took time to describe both Kobe and Gianna.
Vanessa Bryant remembered her dreams about her daughter that were now shattered. She, however, admitted that the two were so close to each other and that perhaps God knew they would not be comfortable away from each other, and so decided to take them in heaven together.
Vanessa had been silent following the tragic turn of events, although she seems to be gathering courage. She released an emotional statement during the recent memorial service that has left her labelled a strong woman.
She made her first Instagram post a week after her husband’s death, beginning by thanking the world for the love and support they had accorded the family, during the moment she termed as horrific. She expressed her devastation following the demise of the adoring husband and amazing dad, and a wonderful daughter and sister.
