If you've followed Miss Swift for any time, you know that everything is not as it seems (cue theme song from 'Wizards of Waverley Place'). Although casual users can still receive much aesthetic enjoyment from viewing Taylor Swift's work, those of us that have been with her from the start gain a much deeper appreciation for the intricate details she manages to pack into everything she does. But don't fear! If that's not you, we're going to walk you through a five fun tidbits she's subliminally projecting in her new music video for 'The Man.'

The first one we have to point out happens near the beginning of the clip, during the song's first chorus. In case you missed it, 'the man' featured here is Taylor Swift herself! After applying prosthetics for many hours, Swift's alter ego is seen on a New York subway train perusing a newspaper filled with headlines supporting the double standards of our patriarchal society. Besides the one seen above, another featured article is labeled with the question, "What Man Won the Year in Celebrity Dating?"

It's thought that this reference calls out a red carpet interview that Swift called out herself in her Miss Americana documentary. It was before the 2015 GRAMMY Awards when ET's Nancy O'Dell rudely remarked that Swift "would walk home more than just a trophy," but also, "lots of men." Swift remained professional, responding to O'Dell's distasteful comment by saying that she was "not going to walk home with any men" that night."

...Which now brings us to the dreaded "walk of shame!"

If this doesn't speak to the double standards between men and women, then we don't know what does. After leaving the bedroom (which still contains a naked woman in the bed!), Swift's character is seen emerging from a hallway as a multitude of hands appear to give him a "high five." It's interesting to note that the video was released on February 27th, on the 98th anniversary of the 19th amendment's being upheld - a law that prohibits the United States government to deny women the right to vote based on their gender.

And speaking of Taylor's recent Netflix documentary Miss Americana, we thought this entire image was just brilliant. You can clearly see that the word "sundance" is replaced with "mandance," and that "Miss Americana" has been changed to "Mr. Americana." Of course, we're always one for a good play on words, so her usage of "Tyler Swift" really got us good - it was a pen name we considered taking on ten years ago, so we're glad Tay Tay put it to good use!
