Whoopi Goldberg, a landmark host on the talkshow The View, has long defended Meghan Markle from various media attacks since her engagement to Prince Harry in 2018. The actress turned talkshow host came to bat for Meghan and her husband again following backlash after the split. In a January tweet,, outspoken actress Bette Midler calls the alienation of Meghan Markle a "sad story," one comparable to that of Princess Diana, who Middler said was "hounded and bullied" just like Meghan until things reached a breaking point. The Canadian Royal Mounted Police (CRMP) has been reportedly providing around the clock security for the couple and their infant baby, but that arrangement will apparently be soon coming to an end, probably caused by a push from Canadian taxpayers. Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau had promised Queen Elizabeth that the family would be safe while on Canadian soil, but the nation's residents have responded with upset that they're expected to contribute to the over $1 million annual bill. After the protection from the CRMP expires, we aren't sure who will pick up the hat next.

The British are having a hard time buying Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's woes as they portray them to the world, citing the couple's extravagant lifestyle and their seeming unwillingness to adjust to something more financially comfortable. Taxpayers who contribute to the parliament are disgruntled that the tens of millions of dollars funneled into Harry and Meghan's wedding, a multimillion dollar house that was given to them, and tens of millions more put into their bank account are apparently vanishing into thin air for Britain. The support and opposition of Meghan and Harry's decisions vary widely, but regardless, none of us seem to stop watching.
