Lopez’s Early Life And Career
Lopez was born in New York City’s Bronx neighborhood, although her parents, Guadalupe Rodriguez and David Lopez, are Puerto Rican.
She is the middle child of three siblings, with an elder sister named Leslie and a younger sister named Lynda. Lopez regarded her upbringing as “strict.”
She grew up in a Catholic family, went to Mass every Sunday, and received a Catholic education. She also went to Holy Family School and Preston High School, both of which were all-girls. While in high school, Lopez competed on a national level in track and field gymnastics and was a softball team member.
After high school, the singer worked as a part-time secretary at a law office and studied business at New York’s Baruch College for one term. She also started as a full-time student at Manhattan’s Phil Black Dance Studio at 18 after taking night jazz and tap dance sessions.
Her parents were dissatisfied with her decision to drop out of college to seek a career as a professional dancer, but she did it anyway.

Lopez was paid $15 million to star in “Monster-In-Law” in 2005. She then received a yearly salary of $12 million as a guest judge on American Idol.
