After TMZ cornered adult film star Maitland Ward about the news that Steven Spielberg’s daughter, Mikaela, was also entering the adult film genre, Ward said the director had nothing to worry about concerning his daughter’s porn plans.
According to a story on Page Six, Spielberg and his wife Kate Capshaw were “embarrassed” by his 23-year-old daughter’s work performing solo sex shows on PornHub.com, although publicly, he’s been supportive, a family friend said.
“Outwardly, Steven and Kate — who are the most evolved parents in the world and love their kids beyond all measure — have always been supportive of Mikaela and try to understand her,” said the friend. “Obviously, though, they’re embarrassed by her sudden public admission of entry into the sex worker world.”

But fellow porn star Ward says the director’s daughter will be safe in the industry and would enjoy what has become a new landscape for adult film.
“It’s amazing. I think we’re living in a really changed world when it’s becoming accepted and celebrated, in many ways,” Ward said. “Listen, If she wants to do this, and live in her truth and her authenticity, and she loves sexual performing, go do it.”
Spielberg, who said she was sexually abused as a child by someone outside the family, told reporters she would not participate in videos with any other adult stars.
Mikaela Spielberg said in an interview with The Sun that her new career move would be an empowering one.
“I got really tired of not being able to capitalize on my body, and frankly, I got really tired of being told to hate my body,” she said in the interview. “And I also just got tired of working day to day in a way that wasn’t satisfying my soul. I feel like doing this kind of work, I’m able to ‘satisfy’ other people, but that feels good because it’s not in a way that makes me feel violated.”
“This is a positive, empowering choice,” Spielberg added. “I realized there is no shame in having a fascination with this industry and wanting to do something that is safe, sane, consensual.”
Ward, who appeared on “Boy Meets World” and “The Bold and The Beautiful” before becoming an adult film star, agrees that taking one’s sexuality into one’s own hands is an empowering move, although she did say there was a reason to be cautious, especially since there is still a disparity between men and women in the industry.
But, Ward was quick to say that Mikaela’s celebrity status as Spielberg’s adopted daughter would provide a degree of protection, despite the industry’s obvious dangers.
“I think she would be taken care of and watched over more,” the actress told TMZ.
Mikaela Spielberg, who lives in Nashville, says that the move is not connected to her childhood abuse, but rather one that she hopes will leave her financially independent from her famous parents.
“I can’t stay dependent on my parents,” she told The Sun. “It just doesn’t feel comfortable for me.’
