Legendary Footballer David Beckham Says He's Proud of His Friend Prince Harry

Since 2010, the legendary footballer, David Beckham, and Prince Harry have maintained something akin to a 'bromance' and are very good friends, despite both of their hectic schedules.

Well, on Wednesday, Beckham was asked about what he though on the Duke and Duchess of Sussex's decision to relinquish their roles as senior members of the royal family and move to North America. Beckham's response was very complimentary and he shared that he fully supported the couple's decision, especially as it pertains to being a father for their son.

On Wednesday, February 26, Entertainment Tonight had a chance to catch up with 'Becks' and ask him about Prince Harry and Meghan's controversial decision. For the former Manchester United star, though, he doesn't feel the need to talk about those kinds of issues. He much prefers to 'speak as friends' and not a whole lot of anything else.

"I haven't spoken to Harry about him moving. We speak as friends and that's the most important thing for me," Beckham said to Entertainment Tonight. "I think he's enjoying being a young father for the first time and that's what we always spoke about. When you are a parent, it changes everything for you. He always needs to be happy."

Prince Harry and Meghan have, no doubt, received a lot of criticism for 'dipping' on the royal family and deciding to forge their own, financially independent lives away from the crown, but Beckham is happy for the couple, citing that they're doing the right thing for their son, Archie Harrison.

"We love him and he's an amazing person – and that's the most important thing – but I'm proud to see him growing up as an individual and being that person that every father wants to be," Beckham revealed, also referring to his wife, Victoria, and her opinion. "Every father wants to be loving to their children and that's what I see with him."

While not much is known about when or how the friendship started, Prince Harry and Beckham do keep in contact on a regular basis. In 2018, Beckham and his wife, Victoria, both attended the royal wedding, sharing that it was 'the best day' and that they thought Meghan was perfect for Harry.

"It was such a beautiful, incredible wedding. It was just the best day," Victoria shared with the Evening Standard following the wedding. "They looked so happy, and everybody was just so happy for them. Meghan seems like a genuinely lovely woman, who really loves him. It felt very real, very honest."

Prince Harry and Meghan Peforming Final Royal Duties in the United Kingdom


Prince Harry and Meghan are currently in the United Kingdom performing what will be their final duties as senior members of the royal family before the 'Megxit' process is finally completed. The couple intends on making several appearances at events, culminating in attending the Commonwealth Day service, which is slated to take place at Westminister Abbey on March 9.

Following those festivities, the former royal couple will return to Canada and resume the next chapter in their lives, which includes continuing to build their new brand, as well as, other ventures.
