YouTube star Jake Paul launched the shot heard across the world when he drunkingly tweeted a jab towards musician Zayn Malik. Apparently, the catalyst to the Twitter battle was a Las Vegas run-in according to sources.

In the now infamous proclamation, Paul said, "Almost had to clap up zane from 1 direction because he is a little guy and has an attitude and basically told me to f*** off for no reason when I was being nice to him...zane ik you're reading this...stop being angry cause u came home alone to ur big a** hotel room hahaha."

In the since-deleted Twitter tirade, Paul continued, "Bro he literally started yelling adn freaking the f*** out 'you wanna test me mate',,,I feel bad for childhood stars."

The mostly one-sided beef spiraled to new heights when Malik's on-again off-again but on-again girlfriend supermodel Gigi Hadid joined the ring and defended her man in a callous response highlighting the fact that her man didn't have time for the BS, he was too busy watching the throne with "his queen" by his side. Which is her. She's the queen.

The February 23 quarrel might have started in Sin City, but as the fallout indicated what happens in Vegas doesn't always stay in Vegas. Following the events of the February 22 fight between Deontay Wilder and Tyson Fury II, Hadid stepped up like a champ to stand up for Malik against Paul.

In a reply to his tweet, Hadid wrote, "Lol cause he doesn't care to hang w you and your embarrassing crew of YouTube groupies ..? Home alone with his best friends like a respectful king cause he has me, sweetie. Unbothered by your irrelevant ugly ass. Go to bed ..."

From the outside looking in, the details behind the beef are written in the thread. But you never get a true understanding of a series event until you get the full picture. Enter HollywoodLife. In an exclusive conversation with HollywoodLife.com, a source close to Malik dropped all the deets behind Sunday morning's inherent messiness.

According to the friend, “It started when they crossed paths after the boxing match and Jake tried to get Zayn to come party and he wouldn’t take no for an answer. Zayn got frustrated and told him to back off and that was the end of it except Jake tried to escalate things by going on Twitter.”

The alleged friend of the notoriously private pop star continued, “It’s pretty telling that Jake deleted his tweet attacking Zayn and even admitted to being drunk, that kind of tells you everything about what Zayn was dealing with. He doesn’t know Jake at all and on top of that he wasn’t in party mode. Zayn is a private person and he’s well past the stage in life where he needs to hit random hotel parties. That’s not where his head is at. Plus, just like Gigi said in her tweet he was also being a respectful boyfriend. He has his queen back and his priority is making sure it stays that way. He wasn’t in Vegas to go crazy, he was there for the fight and once it was done he wanted to go back to his suite to chill out and go to bed.”

HollywoodLife got the in with another exclusive when a source close to Paul revealed to the site, "Jake sees now that it was all a big misunderstanding. Two people on two different levels while in Vegas. Jake was all about having a big party and Zayn wasn’t at all interested. In the heat of the moment of it all feelings got hurt and went to a place it shouldn’t have gone. Jake is looking to move on from it and not get into it any further. He just wants it to go away and let bygones be bygones.”

Next time, let social media stay a sober activity.
