After just a few short days of Pete Davidson speaking on behalf of his understanding of his breakup with Ariana Grande, Davidson has returned to talk about the singer once again, though in an entirely different view.
The Saturday Night Live comedian has been called out on numerous accounts throughout his career. From poking fun at extremely serious matters to failing to stand up for Ariana Grande after an incident, Pete Davidson has been called out on his problematic behavior several times before.
Now it’s happening again.
And in no way will this time be the last.
Despite Davidson’s most recent breakup with supermodel Kaia Gerber, he continues to speak about his relationship with Ariana Grande which concluded in October of 2018 after they called off their engagement.
Now, a year and a few months later, Davidson returned to speak out about his understanding of the breakup between he and Grande. Having occurred no sooner after Mac Miller passed away, Davidson stated in a recent interview that he “pretty much knew it was over after that.”
Though, despite Davidson’s seemingly understanding outlook, he took the stage in a recent one of his comedy shows to take several jabs at his ex-fiancee.
At the start of his show, Davidson described his getting to make fun of the singer-songwriter as nothing other than “fair game.”
During the span of the show, Davidson spoke out about Grande’s music and her appearance in response to her having referred to their relationship as having been a “distraction.”
“Can you imagine if I did that?” Davidson asked the crowd, incredulous.
He then went on to say, “My career would be over tomorrow. If I spray painted myself brown and hopped on the cover of Vogue magazine and just started shitting on my ex?”
Shortly after, Davidson turned to discussing the dynamics of Grande’s music, insisting that if he were to repeatedly call her out the way she has him, he would be frowned upon.
Throughout the rest of the show, while simultaneously making fun of Grande, Davidson attempted to play down on the severity of his jokes by reminding audiences of Grande’s immense success and her genius personality.
Fans on social media, however, refused to take either of those compliments into consideration. Failing to find any of his material amusing, fans found Davidson’s Ariana Grande-inspired jokes tired and far-reaching instead.
People on Instagram and Twitter alike were baffled by both Davidson’s audacity and his continued need to speak out about his year old relationship with the musician.
While each have certainly indulged in their fair share of speaking out about one another, it is clear from social media that what fans of both the musician and the comedian would like the most is for both of them to move on.
