Carole Radziwill addressed her time on The Real Housewives of New York City cast during a recent interview with Heather McDonald on her podcast series, Juicy Scoop.

According to a report from The Cheat Sheet on February 25, Radziwill revealed to McDonald that while new cast members are usually found through the current stars of the franchise, she was discovered due to a conversation she had with Real Housewives creator and Watch What Happens Live host Andy Cohen several years ago.

“I wasn’t friends with any of [the cast],” Radziwill admitted. “And I know now they cast it more. But back in season five, I think they were firing like four of the women and Andy was looking for women to take their place.”

Radziwill was added to the Real Housewives of New York City cast for season five in 2012 after the sudden exits of Jill Zarin, Alex McCord, Kelly Bensimon, and Cindy Barshop.

Although Radziwill confirmed her connection to Cohen was what landed her on the show, she added that they were never the best of friends.

“Andy and I knew each other for a long time through mutual friends, we had really good mutual friends,” Radziwill explained to McDonald. “I never had dinner alone with Andy. To be honest, when I went to this dinner, with our mutual friends, he mentioned would I do the show. I didn’t even know he had a show. I knew he had a talk show, but I’d never seen the show.” She adds, “I didn’t watch any [of the Real Housewives shows].”

Although Radziwill is a successful journalist in her own right, she admitted that she was intrigued by the idea of starring on a reality series.

“So [Andy] just asked me if I would consider it,” she recalled of their past conversation that landed her on the series. “And partly, not knowing what it is about. Partly my general curiosity about all sorts of things, as journalists are programmed by nature. And training to be curious about a lot of things that sort of intrigued me.”

Following years of friendship, Radziwill and Frankel suffered a falling out on the show and a short time later, Radziwill confirmed she would no longer be appearing on the series.

Then, in a statement to The Daily Dish at the time of her July 2018 exit, Frankel seemingly gave a nod to the end of their relationship.

"I have worked with amazing producers, made great friends, and I’m thrilled to leave frenemies behind," she said.
