In a royal exit that is already full of controversy and intense media scrutiny, it appears that now a royal biographer is throwing his hat in the fray, commenting on the pair’s exit from Britain’s highest family.
Tom Bower, Prince Charles’ biographer, appeared on ‘Good Morning Britain’ on Monday, February 24 to slam the couple in the wake of their announcement that there is no “jurisdiction by The Monarchy or Cabinet Office over the use of the word ‘Royal’ overseas.”
“The statement was really spiteful fury from Meghan — What Meghan wants Meghan gets,” the writer commented on the television show, acting sternly towards the former royals.
“It was rude to the queen,” Bower added, “What is spiteful is, she married into the royal family not that long ago and she bailed out. But she wants to bail out on her terms. What is most important for this country is to protect the reputation of the royal family. What you’ve really got is this couple being led by Meghan [who] wants to commercialize the royal family.”
Should Harry and Meghan drop 'Royal' from their branding?
Writer Tom Bower believes they should fall in line with the Queen's decision.
Journalist @afuathescot thinks the couple will attract criticism no matter what they do.

“It’s the truth,” the writer continued on to accuse the former royals, “She has a whole life, a whole career of commercial exploitation of herself. She has absolutely no status apart from being attached to the royal family.” The comments Bower made suggest that Markle was using her status as a royal to propogate her personal image.
After those comments by Bower, a commentator, Afua Adom, mentioned that Markle did establish personal fame prior to her royal wedding through acting in ‘Suits.’
However, Bower did not let up from his attacks on Markle, insinuating that her entire goal behind getting into the royal family was self-promotion, saying, “If she wasn’t married into the royal family she couldn’t have set up a charity, she couldn’t start marketing Meghan’s footwear and all the rest of it.”
“They’re trying to make money out of the royal family,” he went on to add, claiming the pair was initially reluctant to not use their official royal logo while promoting products/ideas.
Bower’s most alarming comments may have been when he blatantly referred to Markle as a hyopcrite, saying, “At the beginning, she threw herself in it. She started campaigning for the environment and then she took all these private jets. When she didn’t tell the truth about Archie’s birth. When she tried to deliberately confuse people about the time of the birth… If they do anything to damage the 93-year-old sovereign of this wonderful country, they have got to start questioning themselves. It’s a selfish, victim-like approach to the world.”
Markle has not issued a response to Bower’s comments as of now.
