Katt Williams Defended Nick Cannon In Response To Kanye West Threats

A common idiom has it that a 'friend in need is a friend indeed.' Well, comedy act Katt Williams was not shy to prove that he had Nick Cannon's back when trouble came calling.

The duo started their friendship a long time ago. Cannon even helped build Williams' career when he was needed in the comedy business.

He featured the then-newbie on his hit show "Wild' N Out," which got him great reviews and gave him a much-needed platform to grow.

However, one peculiar thing about Williams is his ability to air his opinion about issues, not minding the consequences. In this manner, Williams was quick to use his skill with words in defending his friend Cannon when rap mogul Kanye West came at him, and he sure dropped it like it was hot.

William's code of conduct seems to include supporting your buddies in social media battles. After West lashed out at Cannon in a post back in 2018, the comedian could not stomach the rapper's actions and gave West a piece of his mind.

"Why don't you contact me when you have something to say to Nick Cannon? You understand that?" as reported by Rolling Out.

"You a college dropout, I ain't even got a high school diploma. F*** yo a** up, selling all of them expensive a**, ugly a**, dirty a** lookin' clothes."

His lewd ripostes came on Cannon's "Wild 'N Out," set to air on MTV network. Cannon, who was close by, jokingly responded, "Aye, that's my OG, you don't mess with" in solidarity with Williams.

The duo still shares a strong bond even after Williams left Canon's platform to further his career in the industry. He has gone on to win several accolades for his stellar comedy acts, including an Outstanding Guest Actor award in a Comedy Series (Atlanta).

West is well-known for his antics of coming at the people he is beefing at any time. No one is too rich or famous not to feel the stroke of his words if he gets riled up.

In this manner, the rapper released a couple of heated rants on his social media account where he called out Cannon for talking about rumors that his then-wife Kim Kardashian West had dated "One Dance" crooner Drake.

"I just wanted to express some things that were not sitting right with my spirit. Now that I'm up out the sunken place, I can think, and I can be 'Ye' and express how I feel," he raved at that time.

"First of all, I want to address Nick Cannon. I understand that you used to date my wife, but you know, you get into an interview, don't mention my wife," he continued.

"If someone brings my wife up, say, I respect that man, I'm not speaking on that. Don't be making no suggestions — like nobody f— my wife," West added before also blasting Drake on his post.

Williams is not one to mince his words when quizzed about an issue. As per reports, he had a bucket full of words to say when V103 radio hosts asked him about his view that streaming giants Netflix paid comedian/actress far less than his male counterparts.

In his response to the question, Williams smeared Haddish with some harsh comments that seemed to imply she had not done enough to earn the accolades she was getting.

"She's been telling jokes since she was 16. You can't tell me one Tiffany Haddish joke," Katt ranted on the show.

"Why? Because she ain't done a tour yet, she ain't done a special. She has not proven the ability to tell jokes back-to-back for an hour to nobody.

He continued by mocking her performance in the all-star female movie "Girls Trip," saying the film's success had little to do with Haddish.

William's comments were not enough to start an all-out war, and the pair have since settled their beef at the 2018 Emmys.

In time past, Williams has faced several physical controversies proving his fists can cut as deep as his words. These issues include alleged scuffles with teenagers and other cases of assaulting clerks.

Many have shown curiosity about what triggers these intermittent bad habits from the comedian that could dampen his career. In a chat with HuffPost, Cannon disclosed that his antics were not uncommon in the entertainment industry.

"I think honestly, at some point, this happens to a lot of entertainers. They get to a point where they are exhausted by the business," Cannon said at that time.

"That brother was working insanely. Like, he was selling out theaters. Doing three to four theaters a weekend."

Luckily, the comedian's controversies did not change the modalities of his relationship with Cannon. The duo still sees each other often and have partnered on other projects.
