90 Day Fiance is the gift that keeps on giving in the reality show realm. From outlandish couples with increasingly shady backstories (read: Tom and Darcey) to spin-offs offering equal parts drama and intrigue (read: 90 Day Fiance: Before the 90 Days), TLC has struck gold. It’s no wonder why fans tune in week after week and season after season.
Each season, we met a new crop of couples seeking the K-1 visa to come to America where they will hopefully marry the loves of their lives.
In the most recently aired seventh season, among the couples featured, one stuck out the most. The controversial couple in question are Syngin Colchester and Tania Maduro. The pair had quite their shares of up and downs throughout the season that extended well past the usual tensions that come with different cultural backgrounds coming together.
Viewers who saw the couple are well-aware of their one night stand that evolved into more while Tania was in South Africa. At the time, Tania was visiting the country to meet another potential love interest but when that fell through, it unexpectedly led her into the arms of her South African paramour Syngin.
What began as a poetic albeit unconventional love story quickly unraveled to show the cracks beneath the surface. Tania would prove to become Public Enemy No. 1 throughout the duration of the season due to choices that felt to viewers like a conflict of interest. From conversations about wanting different things in life (Syngin didn’t know if he ever wanted kids, Tania was dead-set on having them within three years) to Tania not believing Syngin was her soulmate, the couple often seemed uneveningly matched.
For the first time in the history of 90 Day Fiance, a fiancee would be leaving the country and leaving their partner behind during the 90 days they were given to get married. Tania felt like she had once in a lifetime opportunity to attend a class in Costa Rica for a month and would be leaving her fiance behind to pursue her desires. This prompted another layer of dislike from fans who believed Tania didn’t deserve Syngin and ultimately that Syngin should leave her.
However, despite the haters (and their incompatibility in some areas), Syngin and Tania were very much in love and decided to tie the knot, opting for tattoos instead of rings to prove their eternal bond to one another.
The TLC tell-all special aired a week ago and the two seemed very much in love with Syngin showing Tania signs of comfort as she broke down into tears. However, since then, speculation of whether Syngin and Tania are still together has erupted around the internet.
The couple’s individual Instagram accounts are pointing to potential signs that the flame they carried for each other might be extinguished. Syngin’s account shows barely any evidence that he and Tania are an item with few photos dedicated to them shared sporadically on his feed. Tania’s Instagram mirrors Syngin’s in the fact that the last image shared of the two of them is a promotional photo for TLC back in October 2019.
Does this mean the couple has broken up? If Instagram’s any indication, maybe.
