Sadly the very fears that had kept an NFL team out of Las Vegas have come to fruition very early on in the Raiders' stint in Sin City. Wide receiver Henry Ruggs III was involved in a fatal car accident in the morning hours of Tuesday. According to initial reports Ruggs who was driving a green Corvette impacted a gray Toyota RAV 4 at a Vegas intersection. The impact was so severe that the Toyota caught fire. As things stand right now with the investigation on going it's looking like Ruggs III will get charged with a DUI resulting in death! The biggest problem that Ruggs would be facing if the charge holds up, (other than naturally having to deal with the grief and the guilt of the death of a woman which certainly isn't a light matter) is that there's no probation in Nevada for a DUI conviction. Especially a conviction where there's a death involved in the matter.

This means that it's very likely that Henry Ruggs is going to be looking at time behind bars over this accident. The local laws state that a person in a situation like the one that Henry Ruggs finds himself in could be looking at between 2 and 20 years in state prison! A conviction in this type of situation would be very hard to avoid. Especially if the toxicology report on Ruggs comes back positive. As it seems that indeed it has. Naturally, the legal process will have to play out, but Henry Ruggs' situation certainly is not a promising one.

According to the current reports which are of course preliminary, Ruggs impacted the rear of the Toyota. The vehicle was potentially stopped at the light when Ruggs arrived. What, has puzzled investigators is the way that the vehicle caught fire in such a short amount of time. Unfortunately the fact that the Toyota caught fire with such ease made a potential rescue of the woman inside an impossible task.
