Dwyane Wade and Gabrielle Union are surely becoming the new power couple in the entertainment industry. Whether it's them supporting each other through Union nasty firing from [America Got Talent], to helping Wade transition from NBA star to full-time dad, their public struggles with conceiving their daughter Kaavia James Union Wade, to now having to defend their trans daughter [Zaya]( Formerly known as Zion) decisions. This couple has been through a lot in their six years of marriage, but was there some doubt between the husband and wife earlier on?

Now the cause of concern wasn't between each other rather their respective pasts when it came towards their previous marriages. Gabrielle Union was married to Ex- NFL player Chris Howard from 2001-2005. The relationship was doomed from the beginning many people around Union at the time said. Even hearing how the proposal went is cringy. Allegedly Howard was sitting at home eating KFC chicken with one hand and the ring in the other while waiting for Union. Sounds romantic right. But the marriage didn't last as there were rumors of Howard cheating.

Wade's previous marriage sounded a lot more fairytale-like. Dwyane married his high school sweetheart Siohvaughn Funches and the couple lasted 8 years. They had two kids Zaire and Zion, but everything wasn't peaches and cream for the couple. In a tell-all book that Funches wrote after their divorce, she speaks how the couple was poor and at one moment she had to steal basketball shoes for Wade because they couldn't afford any new ones. The couple eventually divorced in 2007, months after Funches gave birth to Zion. Then things got messy as Funches made claims about how Wade abused her, then blamed Union for the divorce, and at one point try to abduct her kids from Wade which ended up with her being arrested. Things ended badly for Wade and his Ex-wife Funches, so bad that Wade has full custody of his son and now trans daughter.

Now the reason Union wanted a prenup had nothing to do with Wade's outcome with his previous marriages or whether or not Funches would receive more spousal support from him. But it was about Union making it know she has her own star to protect, "Now that it's time to get married to a man who happens to play basketball and has done well for himself, I want to make it clear that I have in no way hitched my wagon to his star," As Union continued with her interview with Yahoo style. "I have my own wagon and star."

Wade wasn't oppose to as we can assume, the couple got married in 2014 and have been very much in love with each other since then. The wedding was only for close-knit friends and family and Union was adamant about that during her interview the Anersio Hall," "No bridesmaids, no groomsmen," Union told Hall. "It's just us and the kids. And we're just riding out, just us. There's a lot of people that think they're coming, and they are not," she said. "If you're not about us and we don't both have a relationship with you, you're not gonna make it." Hope industry connections were served after certain people didn't get that invite. Hopefully, the prenup was just safety precautions and not something that will be of use.
