Britney Spears’ lawyers are attempting to get her father, Jamie Spears, to answer questions regarding abuses during her conservatorship — including placing recording devices in her bedroom.
According to new legal documents, Matt Rosengart is now arguing Britney’s dad is just agreeing to end the conservatorship — not for his daughter’s sake — but to hide what might come out if he is forced to sit for a deposition. In other words, the legal team is claiming Jamie changed his mind about having Britney under a conservatorship just to avoid talking about it, especially the allegation of bugging her bedroom.
In the filing, Britney’s lawyer is demanding, “all documents and communications relating to any recording or listening device in the home or bedroom of Britney Jean Spears, including all documents and communications relating to the decision to place any such recording or listening device and the records of any such recording.”
Britney Spears’ Lawyers Want All Information Regarding Listening Devices
As we reported, the ‘Toxic’ singer’s legal team alleges Jamie worked in conjunction with a security team to place listening devices in Britney’s home — including in her personal bedroom. Apparently, they believe the recorders might have picked up conversations with her children, and communications that would be protected under attorney-client privilege.
Britney’s legal team is not only looking for information regarding that specific listening device, but they are also asking for “all documents and communications relating to the electronic surveillance, monitoring, cloning, or recording of the activity of Britney Jean Spears’ personal telephone, including but not limited to the surveillance, monitoring, cloning, iCloud mirroring, or recording of calls, emails, text messages, internet browser use or history, and social media use or direct messages on social media.”
It’s obvious from the requests, that Britney’s lawyers believe extensive monitoring was going on during the 13-year conservatorship, many of which might have been an invasion of privacy.
Jamie Spears: The Conservatorship Is As Good As Over
In the documents, Britney’s team cites an email dated October 22, 2021, from Jamie’s new lawyer — saying, “As far as Jamie is concerned, the conservatorship is done and can be terminated immediately…So it is said in no uncertain terms my client has no interest in continuing the conservatorship and I will join in any effort to terminate immediately.”
In other words, there is no reason to dig into how things were done in the past since this thing is as good as over.
Well, Rosengart isn’t happy with that explanation and believes Jamie’s change of heart clearly shows that he doesn’t want to answer for issues with recording his daughter. “It is of no moment, presently, whether Mr. Spears’s reversal was motivated by a desire to bolster his reputation or to avoid his deposition or responding to the outstanding discovery served on him in August,” he said.
Britney Spears Is Days Away From Possibly Ending The Conservatorship
At this point, Britney will be appearing before a judge and most likely getting her conservatorship dropped. But, Britney doesn’t seem to be letting it go there — it appears she might sue her family and others over alleged abuses and tear apart the financials of the past 13 years.
