It's no secret that one of America's favorite singing competitions has launched thousands of successful careers, even if they didn't win the series! The exposure that American Idol gives to average people it what makes it such a mesmerizing series. However, you probably didn't know how many famous individuals got their start on American Idol. In this article, we'll discuss four popular singers that were exposed for their talents on the show, and we'll also talk about where they are now!

Hillary Scott, the front-woman for the popular country band, Lady Antebellum, was cut from American Idol before she even made it to the judges audition! She auditioned twice for the production team and assistants before they decided that she wasn't moving on to the auditions in front of the judges. Well now it appears that Hillary is doing pretty well for herself! In 2011 she won five Grammy's with Lady Antebellum, and it still making hits today. Who needs you American Idol!

Feel good singer Colbie Caillat also auditioned twice for American Idol. In her second audition, she even sang her now hit song, Bubbly. As a current two-time Grammy winner, Caillat reflects on her auditions with the talent show. She realizes that back then, she had no stage presence or confidence, so she knows why this would have hindered her making it on the show. Although now, she seems to be doing just fine! She's done collaborations with Taylor Swift and Jason Mraz.

In 2008, now pop super star Bebe Rexha auditioned for American Idol as well! In a tweet from 2018, she says that she and her mom waited in line for 10 hours to audition. And even though she didn't make it through, in 2018 she also became a voice mentor for the show. Her debut album in 2017, "Expectations" went gold and sold millions of copies around the world. Bebe is the definition of never giving up, and keep following your dreams!

Grammy nominated singer, Maren Morris was rejected from both American Idol and the Voice! The crossover country and pop singer and sold millions of copies, and has had a very successful collaboration with the producer Zedd. Their hit track "The Middle" stayed at the top of the charts for weeks when it first came out, and to be honest, it's still at the top of most of our playlists. Each one of these singers are a testament to perseverance and to never give up; rock on ladies!
