In the early ‘00s, the only Disney show anyone cared about was Lizzie McGuire. And that was partly due to the leading lady, Hilary Duff.

And even though the show ended in 2004, Duff has managed to stay relevant (while also avoiding any kind of scandal). How? By being chill!

After her divorce to her first husband, Mike Comrie, Duff kept moving. She raised her son, kept her career, and did so with a smile on her face.

Her seemingly easy-going personality and focus on family, is why we think she’s the best Disney Channel star to date.

She Transitioned Into Film

Some Disney Channel stars don’t make it after they leave the station. And that’s because the industry is competitive.

But, Hilary Duff didn’t seem to have a problem making the transition.

After Lizzie McGuire, Duff appeared in popular films; A Cinderella Story, The Perfect Man, and Bloodworth.

She even helped produce the film, Material Girls, which she starred in alongside her sister. Hilary also had roles in, Ghost Whisperer and Gossip Girl.

Even with her busy schedule, Duff pursued her music career. She released five studio albums throughout the years and went on tour for four of those albums.

More recently, Hilary has starred in the comedy-drama series, Younger, for which she received nominations for the People's Choice Awards in 2016 and 2017.

She Maintained A Personal Life

Hilary Duff, 32, started dating NHL star Mike Comrie in 2007. They became engaged in 2012 when Duff was only 22 and married six months later.

After four years of marriage, their son Luca was born. About two years later the couple separated, with Duff filing for divorce in 2015.

The divorce was finalized in 2016.

“When we were deciding to get married, I was totally down and I felt totally ready, " Duff told her Younger co-star, Nico Tortorella on his "Love Bomb" podcast.

"I had already been working as an adult since I was 12 years old, so 22 doesn’t seem that crazy to get married.”

She Got Remarried

After her divorce, Duff struck up a relationship with her trainer, Jason Walsh in 2016. The two split up a few months later.

Hilary started dating Matthew Koma in 2017. Duff and Koma met in 2015 while working on her album, “Breathe In. Breathe Out.”

The two briefly split up in 2017 but got back together shortly after. They announced she was pregnant on June 8, 2018.

Matthew, a songwriter, popped the question after their baby, Banks, was born. The two were married in an intimate ceremony in their backyard in 2019.

She Kept Her Career

Besides her role in Younger, Duff will be starring in the much-anticipated revival of Lizzie McGuire for Disney Plus.

Unfortunately, the reboot has been put on hold after the creator, Terri Minsky, left the project.

But, with all the buzz surrounding the return of Lizzie McGuire, we’re sure they’ll find someone to take her place.

A Disney spokesperson told Variety, “Fans have a sentimental attachment to Lizzie McGuire and high expectations for a new series. After filming two episodes, we concluded that we need to move in a different creative direction and are putting a new lens on the show."

We’ll just have to wait to see what happens.

Either way, we know Hilary Duff isn’t going anywhere anytime soon!
