It seems like just yesterday Modern Family was airing for the first time.
This popular sitcom was acclaimed by critics and won a number of awards, including several Emmy Awards and a Golden Globe Award for Best Television Series.
And after 11 years and 250 episodes, the cast is saying goodbye.
On February 22, the series officially wrapped on filming. And to honor the occasion, Sarah Hyland, Ariel Winter, and several other cast members took to social media to share behind the scenes photos of their last day on set.
Sarah Hyland, 29, shared several pictures and videos showing off her trailer and close relationship with the rest of the cast.
She kept the message short, but emotional: “11 years. 250 episodes. 1 Modern Family.”
Besides Modern Family, the New York-born actress has starred in Disney Chanel’s Geek Charming and Struck by Lightning. She’s had small appearances in many shows, including Law & Order: SVU.
Hyland is engaged to The Bachelor and The Bachelor in Paradise alum, Wells Adams, who proposed to the star while on vacation in Fiji after the two met via social media.
It’s no doubt an emotional time for the star who grew up playing the role of Haley Dunphy, along with her TV sister Ariel Winter.
At only 22-years-old, Winter joined the cast when she was just a teenager. Similar to Hyland, Winter posted a photo of her trailer, with the caption:
“In just a few hours we will series wrap on @abcmodernfam, and along with everything else, I will be saying goodbye to the trailer I have had for almost a decade. Goodbye trailer! Goodbye Alex plaque!”
Hyland and Winter weren’t the only TV siblings to post emotional tributes. Nolan Gould, who played their kid brother, also shared his thoughts:
“11 years. 250 episodes. 1,220 days of shooting. Thank you for being a part of our family through it all. Overwhelmed by the amount of time and love that went into this endeavour. I’m going to miss seeing these faces everyday.”
Nolan started playing the role of Luke Dunphy, when he was barely 11-years-old. And thanks to the show, Gould, 21, has built up an impressive net worth of $12 million dollars.
Family members were reportedly invited on set for the last day of filming.
Sofia Vergara’s husband, Joe Manganiello, Sarah Hyland’s fiance, Wells Adams, and Jesse Tyler Ferguson’s husband, Justin Mikita, were all in attendance.
A source exclusively told ET, “there was not a dry eye in sight.”
Sofia Vergara even shared a video of the entire Modern Family team standing outside and waving goodbye to the camera. In it, you can see the main cast as well as everyone who had a part in making this special show.
