Lizzo Brings Home 'Entertainer Of The Year' at The 2020 NAACP Image Awards

Going up against Hollywood heavyweights such as Angela Bassett, Tyler Perry, Billy Porter and Regina King proved to be no problem for Lizzo. She came out on top as the ‘Entertainer Of The Year' at the 2020 NAACP Image Awards. Lizzo has been on a tear at every awards show she's been part of in 2019, and 2020 is starting off no differently. After snagging the night’s top honor, she gave a moving speech that received a very welcoming round of applause.

Lizzo said at the event, 'I just wanna shout out all of the big, black girls that I bring on stage with me. I do that because I want them to know they are the trophies. And since this is the final award of the night, I don’t even wanna make it about me.' She went on, 'Every last one of you, you are the award, you are so special, we are such a beautiful people, this is just a reminder of all of the incredible things that we can do. God bless you, and keep on being an award! Let’s go!'

TIME Magazine Felt The Same Way about Lizzo

Lizzo was also TIME Magazine's Entertainer of the Year and it shouldn't be any surprise. Let's face it, who doesn't know who Lizzo is these days? Even if you don't even realize it, you know her. Her music is everywhere! She had a song in the Walmart commercial with the dancing cart people and another one of her tunes was in an ad for Grub Hub. The 'Truth Hurts' and 'Good as Hell' singer, songwriter, flutist and messenger of 'self-love' has been lighting the world on fire.

Lizzo was nominated for eight Grammys, the most ever for an artist, going into the 62nd Annual Awards Ceremony of the Biggest Night in Music. She won Best Traditional R&B Performance for 'Jerome' and Best Urban Contemporary Album' for her 2019 breakout 'Cuz I Love You'. Not only did Lizzo take home her first Grammy, she also broke out her flute to open the show and totally 'wowed' the crowd with renditions of both 'Truth Hurts' and 'Cuz I Love You'

Lizzo, complete with a massive inflatable booty, brought the house down at the MTV Video Music Awards. She has always had a truly 'larger than life' type personality and this was the world's first full-blown exposure to the singer/rapper/flutist. In Lizzo's her true inspirational self love fashion, she said, 'Let me talk to y'all for a second. I'm tired of the BS. It's so hard to love yourself in a world that doesn't love you back. Feel good as hell because you deserve to feel good as hell. Congrats Lizzo, for winning the Image Awards 'Entertainer Of The Year' honor!
