Meghan Trainor's Father Reportedly Hospitalized After Hit-and-Run Accident

According to People Magazine, Meghan Trainor's father Gary has been hospitalized after being struck by a vehicle in Los Angeles on Friday night.

The incident occurred as he was trying to cross the intersection of a busy street near the San Fernando Valley, according to TMZ.

Trainor's father had been instrumental in her early career, serving as musical inspiration and confidant. The singer has gone on to release three albums as well as collect six top 20 hits on Billboard.

TMZ reported sources close to the Trainor family told that Trainor was hit by a car and is expected to recover from his non-life threatening injuries.

Currently, law enforcement is investigating, but there was no description or whereabouts of the suspected driver at the time of this report was written.

On the status of Trainor's condition, Meghan Trainor's rep told, "He is in stable condition."

There have been no statements or comments from Trainor or any family members directly about the incident.

Since the beginning of her career, Trainor has maintained a close relationship with her father. He was instrumental in her early career as he played piano on some of her early songs and produced the track, "Cupid."

Over the years, Trainor's father attended multiple awards shows with his daughter, including being her date to her first Grammy Awards in 2015. They recently appeared together on The Voice U.K., where Trainor serves as one of the coaches.

Since reports have surfaced, she has not mentioned nor commented on her father's accident on social media.

In a 2018 interview with Today, Trainor spoke with Hoda Kotb about how her father inspired her. "Anytime I complain about anything, he's like, 'Life will get better if you let it,'" the "No Excuses" the singer stated at the time. "Sometimes in life you can't control what happens — most of the time you can't control what happens... but you can control how you look at it and how you stay positive about it or find the good in it."

Even with all her success, she seeks out her father's opinion. Before releasing her new album Treat Myself in January, she told the talk show Daily Pop that her father thought there were "too many slow songs" on the record.

"It just was three years of writing and writing and writing until I got songs like 'Wave' and 'Funk,'" she stated the new album. "And then I was like, 'Oh, every song has to be at this level or it can't make it on this album,' and just kept going."

Trainor released her third album on January 31. The album includes the singles "No Excuses," "Wave" and "Nice To Meet Ya."

The Massachusetts native joined The Voice U.K. earlier this year and was a judge on Fox's short-lived music competition series The Four: Battle for Stardom in 2018.
