‘Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist’ is a fairly new show on NBC. Combining an interesting main character named Zoey and fantastic musical numbers, this show is entertaining from the beginning to the end. In the most recent episode titled ‘Zoey’s Extraordinary Best Friend,’ it had a lot of great moments. Some include Max’s rendition of ‘Sucker’ by The Jonas Brothers and a beautiful dance break to Whitney Houston’s ‘I Wanna Dance With Somebody’. Even though these moments were fantastic, the best one was when Zoey’s father serenaded her mother and she didn’t even know it.

What makes this show more fun is that Zoey is the only person who can hear and see the person performing. Mitch, Zoey’s father is not able to express himself because he has the neurological disease PCP (Progressive Supranuclear). Zoey’s new power comes in handy because her dad can express his inner feelings through song. At the beginning of the episode, Zoey’s brother David gives their dad a buzzer so he can answer yes or no questions. Of course, this method causes some confusion.

After Maggie (Zoey’s mom) pulls almost everything out of the closet, she still can’t figure out what he wants. She brings something to him and he buzzes no. When Zoey gets to her parents’ home, her dad starts singing the song ‘Moonlight’ by Van Morrison. The scene was so amazing because as she cleaned up everything she pulled out, he followed her. He was trying to profess his love for her and she doesn’t even know it. The way he looked at her was priceless.

Zoey has never heard of the song before so she starts to do some research. She assumes that her father is saying that wants to have a romantic night. She suggests this to her mom but her mom assures her that their love life is good. Zoey then tells her the song and asks if she knows it. Her mother admits that she does and explains the story behind it. When they were dating, they went to a Van Morrison concert. In the middle of that song, Mitch told her that he loved her for the very first time.

This made fans' hearts melt. When Maggie gets some alone time with Mitch, she serenades him back. Even though he can’t express himself the way he wants to, after her dance, they both share a laugh. To me and a lot of people, their story stole the episode. I think seeing her parents love will affect how she views her own love life. She might even look at her relationship with Max a little bit differently. Luckily, fans of a full season to find out if Max is the endgame.
