Carrie Underwood has sparked a fan frenzy over on her Instagram – apparently, with nothing more than a customized beverage holder. The 36-year-old singer and “American Idol” winner updated her account this week with a low-key snap of herself sipping a drink, but fans have been losing it over what the cup was decorated with.
If you’re familiar with Carrie’s smash-hit “Jesus Take The Wheel” track from 2005, you’ll get why fans were losing their minds. Check out the snap (plus the reactions) below.
Carrie’s photo showed her looking wide-eyed and beautiful as she posed with a giant reusable coffee cup held up to her face. The pale blue receptacle featured a cartoon face of Jesus Christ with a speech bubble coming out from his head.
“Would you like me to take the wheel?” the caption read.
Of course, the words were clearly referencing Carrie’s “Jesus Take The Wheel” song, with Carrie also thanking her friend for the cup via her caption.
“Yes, please… Thanks @melissaschleicher for the cute lil’ gifty! ?,” she wrote.
The response was pretty immense, both via comments and likes, with the latter sitting at an impressive 265,000+ in just 21 hours.
Responses poured in.
“Omg I want one,” a fan said.
“Hahahahaha! I need this STAT,” another added.
“This is amazing” was another comment, with one fan going even further: “This cup is EVERYTHING,” they wrote.
“Okay….I need this in my life?” saw yet another fan want the cup, with one user stating that their daughter absolutely needs it.
“I need this for my daughter expecting number 4. She says that…Jesus take the wheel and Jesus fix it all the time,” they told Carrie.
Comments just kept on coming.
“LOVE THAT CUP WHERE CAN WE GET ONE???????” saw a fan need caps.
“I need this tumbler in my life,” another added.
Meanwhile, one fan even seemed to feel that the cartoon Jesus resembles “Matrix” actor Keanu Reeves.
“Haha For a split second I thought that was Keanu Reeves ?,” the user wrote.
Over 33 users liked the comment.
The update also brought in some celebrity likes. Fellow country singer Miranda Lambert and “The Morning Show” actress Reese Witherspoon both left likes.
Carrie’s Instagram may be filled with gushing family photos and thanks to her fans, but Carrie herself has stated that she’s not “mushy.” Speaking to Vulture in 2018, the singer explained her personality.
“I’m not a mushy person. I’m not good at sharing my feelings. I feel like I always gravitate toward [songs], or write songs, I just want the women characters in there to just be fierce and strong … Whatever the situation was, it’s like the woman was pushed to her limit and fought back … I want to be perceived as a strong woman,” she stated.
