Amanda Bynes' drug- and alcohol crazed life may finally be coming to an end, according to a video she posted to her Instagram page on Thursday. Bynes is a California-born American former actress who saw a quick rise to fame as a child star, after landing roles starting in the late 1990s in shows like All That, a sketch comedy hosted by kids, Hairspray, a body-positivity film set in the 1960s, and The Amanda Show, sketchy comedy about Bynes herself.

Bynes, now 33 years old, looks quite different from when she did when her acting career peaked in the late 1990s and early 2000s. As her struggles with addiction and mental health progressed, fans watched her simultaneously struggle to land on a new public image that suited her. Having traded in her trademark blonde-haired, blue-eyed, "all American girl" look for face tattoos, piercings, and a darker brunette look, she has come to be unrecognizable for television watchers who didn't follow Bynes out of the spotlight when she announced her retirement from acting in the late 2000s.

Bynes' public spiraling out, which included bizarre rants on social media, a handful of arrests, and being briefly held in a mental institution, led to many random lashings at other celebrities. In her Instagram video, she apologizes to everyone she called ugly on Twitter. "I was feeling so ugly at the time and it was really hard for me to express myself at the time," she said, "because I was so drugged out and now I’ve remained sober for over a year"

Amanda's Engagement

The wedding bells are ringing now for the former actress and now addict in recovery, because she also introduced her fiance, Paul Michael, in the same video that she apologized in. Bynes reports that the couple met in rehab, and she publicly announced their engagement on Valentine's Day, showing off a glamorous ring on Instagram with the caption: "Engaged to the tha love of my life". Since then, Michael's face has flooded Bynes' Instagram feed, and she can be seen lovingly referring to him as "the best person on the face of the earth" in her video.

While we definitely know that Amanda's days as a cute, quirky TV star are over, we are also cheering for her and hope that her engagement and sobriety stick. As far as the celebrities that Bynes dissed on Twitter at the height of her substance abuse, including Rihanna, Chrissy Teigen,Zac Efron, Jenny McCarthy, Miley Cyrus, JAY-Z, Drake, and the Obamas, it's too soon to tell if they're back on team Bynes following her video apology. Regardless, we hope that Amanda spends more time planning her wedding and less picking fights on social media now.
