“Chicago Med,” created by Dick Wolf and Matt Olmstead, is included in the One Chicago Trilogy, consisting of “Chicago Med,” “Chicago Fire,” and “Chicago PD.”
However, from the standpoint of the One Chicago fans, its inclusion may not continue for much longer. Viewers have expressed how unsatisfied they felt about the spinoff and how little “Chicago Med” promotion gets.

Fans have recently wondered about the NBC show’s future and expressed some concern over its progress compared with the other One Chicago shows.

‘Chicago Med’ Fans Expressed Their Criticisms
NBC has scrapped many dramas in the past couple of years, including Better Late than Never in 2018, Abby’s in 2019, Bluff City Law in 2019 as well, and Council of Dads in 2020.
It wouldn’t surprise fans if “Chicago Med” became a part of the list as they took to Reddit expressing their grievances for the show. Fans complained about the show’s airing time and suggested that it aired at a better time when more viewers would be available.
They also complained about not seeing their favorite characters enough times on the show, compared to the other shows in the trilogy. Fans were also displeased with the difference between the Chicago series, specifically because of Chicago Med and its main focus on representing sad hospital scenes.
These observations have made fans think that the show may soon be canceled. They also aren’t alone in feeling this way, as critics have recently become pickier about NBC’s choices.
‘Chicago Med:’ What’s The Show About?
The show premiered on NBC on the 17th of November, and many fans were excited about the spinoff. It revolves around the doctors and nurses of the emergency department of Gaffney Chicago Medical Center, as they try their hardest to save patients’ lives.
While Dr. Will Halstead (played by Nick Gehlfuss) is a medical physician, Dr. Daniel Charles (played by Oliver Platt) is the Sherlock Holmes of psychiatry, and Sharon Goodwin (played by S. Epatha Merkerson) is the head of the hospital.

Dr. Stevie Hammer (played by Kristen Hager) and Dr. Dylan Scott (played by Guy Lockard) are emergency medicine doctors. Together, they all confront the most challenging medical cases while dealing with the drama of working in the city’s largest hospital.
The show has crossed over a few times, with characters from its sister series, “Chicago Fire.”
Why Fans Believe That NBC Might Cancel ‘Chicago Med’
The fans’ thoughts on the show’s cancellation by NBC were ascribed to several reasons, a major one being its lowest viewership out of all three shows. This observation declined compared to February 2021, when the show had the most viewers among the three.
Also, the disorganization of the first two series made it difficult for the viewers to follow the storyline. Many fan favorites were also replaced or removed, which may have led many fans to stop watching entirely.
Fans believe that the show’s writing and production team may have contributed to the drop in ratings. Most of the plot was focused on hospital politics rather than patient-related cases.
Also, there were only two time jumps in season 2 of the show, one at the beginning and one at the end. This confused many fans as they expected more movement, either forward or backward in time.
‘Chicago Med’ Might Eventually Get Canceled
The medical drama that revolves around the lives of the doctors at a fictional hospital in Chicago was highly ranked by viewers in its first season.
Maintaining the medicine storyline of the show may have proven difficult when facing the TV standards of prime-time networks. The poor plot lines, which fans complained about, also made it challenging to follow through.

The show has been criticized for having no star power compared to its sister series. Many main characters have also lost their essence in the series or have been pulled out altogether.
NBC may eventually cancel “Chicago Med” unless significant changes are made to hold fans’ attention again.
