Arnold Schwarzenegger is an actor whose risen to legendary status. Even in his early 70's the action hero still loves being the star in movies. Recently, it was revealed Schwarzenegger is set to star in the new film The Iron Mask alongside Jackie Chan. The actor has an extensive rep sheet in showbiz, more so than other foreign talents. Schwarzenegger has made quite the name for himself in America, and thankfully so, as his upbringing in Austria differed greatly from the U.S.

A troublesome family life is difficult for any child to overcome. Schwarzenegger, fortunately, grew from his family's reported dark past. His father, Gustav, a drunkard and a violent man. Schwarzenegger recalled the times his father beat him, convinced that he was gay. He'd even encourage fights between him and Arnold's older brother, Reinhard, just to embarrass him. However, that wasn't even the worst part about his family. Later on in life, the actor made the shocking discovery that his father was a German Nazi. As a longtime supporter of the Simon Wiesenthal Center, a Jewish human rights organization, Schwarzenegger sought to cut all ties with his father. In addition to Arnold Schwarzenegger's move to America, he fell in love with President John F. Kennedy's niece Maria Shriver. The two wed in April 1986, leading the married couple to start a life together. Despite Schwarzenegger's infidelity and their 2011 divorce, Shriver has remained close with her four children. The Peabody Award winning journalist told People Magazine that every Sunday the family gets together to have dinner. The proud mother of four even posts her children's accomplishments via Instagram. Even though she and Schwarzenegger are separated, Shriver maintains a loving relationship with her kids.

Though Arnold Schwarzenegger didn't come from humble upbringings, his kids certainly did. His second youngest child Patrick Schwarzenegger is following exactly in his father's footsteps. He's one of the most well-known of the Schwarzenegger family, having been in the limelight since he was 10. The now 28 year-old has been modeling and acting for as long as he can remember. Not to mention, he worked hard to achieve his dreams, just like his father did. "My dad was very insistent that we'd work . . . So we were taught to have discipline." Schwarzenegger inherited his father and mother's legendary work ethic and it looks like it paid off.

Now with his kids all grown up and out the house, Arnold Schwarzenegger is looking forward to the next chapter of his life; becoming a granddad. With his daughter Katherine Schwarzenegger becoming the wife of Guardians of the Galaxy Chris Pratt, it's bound to happen soon. "I don't really pressure my daughter. I leave that up to her and Chris, when they want to have them. I know it will happen eventually," the proud dad gushed about his daughter. The soon-to-be-granddad keeps in touch with his children as well.

Joseph Baena Has A Loving Relationship With Dad

Speaking of Schwarzenegger's children following in their father's footsteps, his son Joseph Baena is the spitting of the former Mr. Universe. Back in 2019, Baena recreated his father's most iconic bodybuilding poses for a social media challenge called #classicchallenge that went viral. Despite the fact that Baena and Arnold's immediate family aren't as close, the 22 year old still maintains a relationship with his father. At least the two are relatively close with one another. Arnold Schwarzenegger maybe a terrible husband but he's twice the man his father was to him.
