Magic Mike star Channing Tatum has a long history with his ex-wife Jenna Dewan. Not only were the couple previously married for nine years, but they also have a daughter together. So, naturally, when Jenna Dewan announced that she had gotten engaged to her new partner, Steve Kazee, last Tuesday, we all wanted to know what Channing Tatum had to say about the engagement. Read on to find out exactly how Tatum feels about his ex-wife moving on to a new marriage.
Channing Tatum and Jenna Dewan first got together in 2006 after meeting on the set of the dance film_Step Up_. Three years later, in 2008, the couple got engaged in Maui. They were officially married a year later in Malibu with a fairytale themed wedding. And, with Tatum’s acting career on the rise, the two really did seem like a fairytale relationship. Dewan even changed her name to Jenna Dewan-Tatum, to commemorate her marriage. Things only looked up for the couple as they welcomed their first child together in 2013, one year after Tatum’s blockbuster hit Magic Mike had been released. The couple named their baby girl, Everly.
Unfortunately, however, things weren’t so fairytale-esque behind closed doors. In April of 2018, the couple announced that they were separating, much to the shock and disappointment of fans across the board who had believed in their relationship. The ex-couple made a statement on Instagram announcing their split, stating, “We have lovingly chosen to separate as a couple. We fell deeply in love so many years ago and have had a magical journey together. Absolutely nothing has changed about how much we love one another, but love is a beautiful adventure that is taking us on different paths for now. ” They had been together for 12 years and married for nine.
Tatum and Dewan don’t seem to be on bad terms. They continue to co-parent their daughter together, and Dewan even remained Dewan-Tatum for several months after their split. Although she has since returned to Jenna Dewan. However, reports did say that the custody battle between the two movie stars had been difficult. Those hoping for the two to rekindle their romance should move on just as Tatum and Dewan have done. Tatum started dating Jessie J in November of 2018, while Dewan got together with her now-fiance, Steve Kazee that same month.
Things between Dewan and Kazee got serious quickly, and in September of 2019, the two announced that they were expecting their first child together. Then, in February 2020, the new couple got engaged! Tatum is reportedly “very happy” for his ex-wife, and a source claimed that, “Jenna has a special place in [Channing’s] heart since she is the mother of their child, but they have both moved on and are happy in their new relationships. Channing’s main priority and concern is his daughter, and him and Jenna are both happy to have worked out a co-parenting agreement.”
