Every celebrity is put under a microscope, especially when they post photos online. For every one nice comment, there are three negative comments waiting right underneath it.

While many people, both famous and non-famous, get Botox injections to decrease the appearance of wrinkles, Salma Hayek is not one of those people. The 53-year-old actress and producer posted a photo of her enjoying a beach day and a comment by a private account said that she had too much Botox. Hayek responded by saying "I don’t have Botox. But thank you for the advice, because I was thinking maybe it’s time.”

The clap back to the comment achieved two things. It proved that Hayek doesn't feel the need to hide any evidence of natural aging. It also showed that she likes to serve attitude with a bit of humor on the side.

In a 2017 interview that she had with Dujour Magazine, Hayek spoke about aging naturally and gracefully.

In the interview she said, “I don’t look at things short term; I think of longevity. Listen, if there was something you could do that would keep you looking good, I would do it. But I’m in love with my husband, and I want to look like a lovely lady when I’m 70. I want him to see me and think, ‘Okay, my girl is old now, but there’s still beauty there.’”

Even though Hayek hasn't gotten Botox injections, she debated getting it done for a film that was set in the cosmetics industry. On "El Gordo y la Flaca," an entertainment news show on Univision, Hayek talked about getting Botox and lip fillers done for her role in "Like a Boss," where she played a glamorous businesswoman.

She said that the timeline was what made her decide it wasn't a good idea. She said, "They told me Botox takes too long to wear off and I had another movie.”

She also decided against lip fillers because the pain was too much for her to handle.

Celebrities Are No Strangers to Negative Comments

Responding to negative comments is always risky business. While some people find it entertaining and justified, others could say that the celebrity should be used to it and not make the person feel bad.

In most cases, we can probably all agree that as long as the celebrity doesn't say anything over-the-top harsh about the person behind the username, they have every right to defend themselves. Hayek wanted to show that she doesn't need anything except her natural beauty, and she shouldn't have to hear otherwise from a random person in her comment section.
