Before The Rock found worldwide success, he was a normal guy. He still is, just with an unbeatable work ethic. But before all of that he struggled. His original goal was to become one of the best players in the NFL. He played college football for the University of Miami while he was attending the school. He did not do the best academically, but was able to make it through college long enough to eventually be invited to the NFL combine.

What happened after The Rock went to the NFL combine? Did he set the world of professional football on fire like he anticipated? No he did not! He didn't even come close.

The closest he got to playing professional football was playing for the CFL in Canada. He ended up playing there for a number of months making a few hundred dollars a week Canadian. His football career abruptly ended when he got cut from the CFL and was forced to move home and back in with his parents.

After being forced to move back in with his parents, Dwayne Johnson went through a period of serious depression. He has talked openly about this before many times, but it was during this time that he considers one of the lowest points in his life.

Once he had enough of crying and feeling sorry for himself, he decided to reach out to his father for help in order to train him for the wrestling business. His father, WWE Hall of Famer Rocky Johnson, decided to train his son leaving the rest to history.

So why does all this matter? It matters because Dwayne Johnson's story from broke and humble beginnings, all the way to success, prove what a human being can be capable of.

He went through the highs of being a football player for an established university, to the lows of being cut from the Canadian Football League. He went through a deep depression, went broke, and ultimately gave up on his dream of playing football. He picked himself back up and decided to try a different career path. One of hard work, sacrifice, and dedication. This just goes to show what exactly is possible when we put our minds to something.
