Michelle has known to be outspoken and heart-driven for the issues she finds most important. Regardless of the event, she shows up and shows out. Even in her younger days, Michelle has always been serving looks and as she has gotten older she still shows up to the function as one of the best dressed people around. She looks absolutely stunning here in this bold, purple monochrome suit and accented belt – a look not many could pull off.
In 2018, Michelle appeared as a guest on The Tonight Show to talk about her memoir, fire drills, and of course, her husband and former President. As First Lady, she never was in the shadow of her husband, President Barack Obama in a dazzling sequined striped Balmain suit with a black v-neck top. Even now she has been rocketing off into political celebrity status with as her memoir Becoming sold 1.4 million copies in its first week. Her posture exudes confidence and strength. Such an inspiring and empowering woman is deserving of clothes that are up to the task.
In Becoming she talks about the importance of fashion as the First Lady. In a moving excerpt she describes the struggles she had faced as she felt the disappointment of the public eye on her appearance, rather than their attention on her words and opinions. She notes fashion being somewhat of an unfamiliar subject to her, but that she tried to use her platform in order to uplift and support aspiring designers. Often, Michelle walked the line between designer and every day fashion from chain store brands – sometimes even mixing the two. Michelle has gone out of her way to accommodate the societal double standard and has taken these obstacles as opportunities.
Michelle Obama is a fierce, intelligent and hard working woman that uses her platform to help others and drive causes she is passionate about – all while looking incredible! It’s inspiring to see someone put out the best version of themselves at every opportunity. Although her time in the White House is over, she still brings the same amount of impact in our world. The respect and dignity she gives to others and the kindness she exerts will always be appreciated.
