Ex-One Direction star Harry Styles endured a scary Valentine's Day weekend due to a knifepoint mugging which occurred after a night out in North London. According to The Mirror, Styles was approached by a man who pulled out a knife and threatened him; Styles calmly gave the man money and was able to walk away unharmed. A source told The Mirror, "he actually played it pretty cool, quickly giving the assailant cash, keeping himself and the guy calm and getting the situation over with."

The mugging was confirmed today by the Metropolitan Police, who claim they are still, "investigating reports of a knifepoint robbery in Hampstead".

Despite being "very shaken up afterwards", Styles seems to be steady enough to keep his engagements; he is still performing today at the 2020 Brit Awards alongside stars like Billie Eilish and Lewis Capaldi. This year he is nominated in two major categories: male solo artist of the year and album of the year (for his new record Fine Line).

This past weekend has likely been a trying one for Styles. On top of the mugging incident, Styles has also had to cope with personal tragedy. On February 15th, Styles' ex-girlfriend, Love Island host Caroline Flack, took her own life only months after leaving the show. Styles and Flack dated briefly in 2011 and their relationship was the source of controversy due to a large age-gap between the couple. Styles has yet to provide any comments on Flack's tragic passing.

Despite an unpleasant Valentine's Day Weekend, Styles still has much to celebrate this year. His new solo album Fine Line, released in December of 2019, received critical praise and found its way onto several year-end "best albums" lists. It topped the Billboard 200 albums chart upon release and scored the highest sales week for a male artist's pop album in four years. Styles is set to embark on the 75-date "Love On Tour" this April in support of the new record.

Styles is not the only celebrity to have dealt with a frightening robbery this year. Reports have recently been released that Scott Swift, Taylor Swift's father, had a physical altercation with a home intruder in January. Sources claim that Swift encountered suspect Terrence Hoover sneaking out of his Florida penthouse and "a struggle ensued" between them before Hoover was able to escape. Hoover later called the police on himself; he was arrested and charged with burglary. He is currently being held on a $50,000 bond.
