Pumpkin and Thyme Ravioli with Burnt Butter and Sage Sauce
First up is Olivia and her pumpkin and thyme ravioli with burnt butter and sage sauce. This rich and flavorful dish would be perfect before a night of trick-or-treating, but don’t be like Olivia and skimp out on the butter.
However, although Olivia almost blew it big time by not adding enough sauce and butter, her dish was so rich and flavorful – thank you pancetta – that the judges praised her technique and understanding of textures. Even the guy in the purple ascot could barely contain his glee.
Crispy Skin Chicken with Cumin and Feta Pumpkin Purée
As if Charlie’s crispy chicken skin atop a feta pumpkin purée was not decadent enough, he topped it with a bacon and chestnut “confetti” that made the judges wow with delight.
“Absolutely delicious!” the judges declared, noting that this festive dish really “turns up the volume” on the festive flavors.
Caramelized Pumpkin Cake with Cinnamon Mousse, Maple Bacon and Candied Walnuts
Pumpkin pie may be the favorite go-to of the season, but that’s only because you haven’t tried this pumpkin cake served up by “MasterChef” star, Kate. Pairing the dish with candied walnuts and a slab of maple bacon was a nice touch and will be sure to satisfy any Halloween sweet tooth!
