Before Kourtney and Kim "took New York," and before their family became national news with Keeping Up With the Kardashians, Kim Kardashian was one of Paris Hilton's best friends.

Kim's family grew up in Beverly Hills, where she and Paris would later meet, with Kim's family gaining nationwide notoriety for Robert Kardashian's role in the infamous O.J. Simpson trial.

The two have definitely had their ups and downs over the past few years, but their childhood friendship has remained intact through it all.

The besties seem to be in good graces once again, as in honor of Paris Hilton's 39th birthday, Kim shared some fantastic throwback photos on her Instagram story. The photos appeared to have been from the pair's trip to Sydney, Australia sometime between 2006 and 2007 - a fact which was made even more clear by the duo's fashion choices.

In one of the photos, the women walk around with matching metallic Louis Vuitton handbags. The other showed the two wearing shiny dresses.

"Happy Birthday Paris Hilton!!" Kim wrote, signing the story picture with "Love you,"

To today's teens, Kim Kardashian West is more of a household name than Paris Hilton, but Kim K is careful not to forget her roots.

"I really would want to do anything for her. She literally gave me a career, and I totally acknowledge that" she told her sister, Khloe Kardashian. "I'm trying to get everything done before the Met, and everything is done before the baby comes, but I would drop it for her because that's important to me to be loyal to people."

Last year, Kim Kardashian appeared in the video for Paris Hilton's new single titled "Best Friend's Ass," an earworm of a song that says no to fuckboys and celebrates friend Kim K's famous butt.

Kim's start in reality TV was thanks to a supporting role on Paris's show with Nicole Richie, The Simple Life, where she helped give her dog a pregnancy test and talked about appropriate outfits to wear abroad.

So what does Paris have planned for her birthday? Getting back in the spotlight, of course!

This time with a YouTube Original documentary about her life titled This is Paris.

In an interview with Deadline, Paris referred to the documentary as "emotional" and "raw."

"I’ve never done anything like this in my life," she said. "In this film, I discuss things I’ve never discussed before. I hope that people are going to see who I truly am."

She says she's done playing a character and wants people to see who she really is. "I really just wanted to pull the curtain back and show my real life."
