Abby Huntsman wants to make her VIEW clear!
The former co-host opened up about the negative factors behind her decision to leave ABC’s “The View.”
On September 4, 2018, the American journalist was hired to provide conservative political views on the show. However, 14 months later, she left the program.
Huntsman initially said she exited the show to support her father, Jon Huntsman Jr., with his political campaign for Utah Governorship. But there are shocking reasons behind her exit.
Abigail Huntsman Says “The View” Was “Toxic” And “Unhealthy”
In her latest podcast, “I Wish Somebody Told Me,” Huntsman got candid with her friend Lauren Leeds about her “unhealthy” and “toxic” work environment on “The View,” HollywoodLife reported. The 35-year-old said:
“I knew the show did not reflect my values, when I say that I mean rewarding people for bad behavior.”
Huntsman mentioned that the executives in charge were obsessed with money, ratings, and tabloids. The journalist credited her 4-year-old daughter Isabel for giving her the courage to leave.
Huntsman confessed that if her daughter wanted to leave an unhealthy situation, she would like to tell her she did the same.
The magazine reported that Huntsman fought back the tears saying she was proud of herself for walking away even when “they” told her, “You will never find anything better than this.”
Meghan McCain Addresses Tension That Fueled “The View” Exit
In a similar fashion to Huntsman, Meghan McCain exited “The View” in July 2021, saying she wanted to attend to her 12-months-old baby, Liberty.
The conservative columnist told Ramin Setoodah during an interview that Goldberg lost it and kept commanding her to stop talking on the December 2019 episode.
McCain said she would keep quiet for the rest of the show, and Goldberg replied that she was okay with that. This led to continuous tension between them.
The 37-year-old said she respected Goldberg, who apologized to her the following day, but she had felt addressed like a child.
McCain added that comments from internet users fueled this belief. She got emotional while chatting to Setoodah, adding that she felt lonely on the show.
The columnist felt Goldberg wanted her gone, and their difference in opinion was causing contempt onset.
“You don’t have to remain in a work environment where you are being criticized on the internet for your opinion,” Mccain said, adding she feels content and healthier with her exit.
The “Raising McCain” Star Banned From Speaking With Ex Co-hosts
After exiting the talk show before its 25th season, rumors spread that McCain had been banned from communicating with the “The View” staff to keep paparazzi at bay.
The Blast reported that these speculations arose when the author was set to release “Bad Republican,” an autobiography about her time as a host on the ABC talk show.
Sources surfaced saying executive producer Brian Telta is “paranoid” about leaks and advised staff not to communicate with former employees with opposing beliefs. However, the show’s publicist denied the claims.
McCain also addressed the speculations saying, “if that’s true, they’re doing a poor job.” The “Outnumbered” star said, “I still employ their stylists and talk to a lot of the hosts, including Hostin.”
