Fans Do Not Approve Of ‘Grey's Anatomy’ & 'Station 19' Time Swap

"Grey's Anatomy" has finally returned from its winter hiatus after it left fans with bated breaths after a gripping and potentially fatal fall finale. Thankfully, the series has come back to address the aftermath of the car that plowed into Joe's Bar, putting several of our favorite doctors and eventually "Station 19' firefighters in grave danger.
ABC used the drama to create a big two-hour crossover episode encapsulating the medical mainstay and its popular spinoff. However, some Grey's fans lashed out on Twitter for a few different reasons.
The first was that Grey's and Station 19 swapped viewing times. 'Station 19' now airs first on Thursdays at 8 p.m. EST followed by Grey's at 9 p.m. This sparked a lot of reactionary responses.
"Oh my gosh... they really moved #GreysAnatomy to 9 p.m. ET so #Station19 can be at 8. Not just for tonight but for the rest of this season? Bruh, WHAT?!?! Why!!!" A Grey fan, who went by the name Aliya, asked.
"I've supported grey's anatomy for YEARS after they've made it a mess of a show bc i'm a loyal lady BUT changing the weekly time to 9 p.m. so that station 19 can be at 8?!!!! that's where i draw the line bye," another fan added.
Other Complaints
Additional fans were upset that they missed the first half of the two-episode event, unaware that they needed to tune in for both.
"So you mean to tell me greys is a 2 hour crossover tonight and I missed the first half," a Twitter user commented and added a meme.
"I don't watch Station 19 so I didn't know I had to watch it before Grey's so now I missed the whole car thing and have to wait till tomorrow to watch them both," another commenter asked and concluded with the angry emoji.

But even more, seemed enraged over feeling forced to watch the spinoff to understand the new Grey's episode that followed. Since most of the overlapping events happened during the first hour as firefighters freed the victims from the rubble, it sounded imperative to watch both.
Those who never watched 'Station 19' seemed particularly annoyed, as they had to sit through a show whose characters they weren't familiar with and weren't super invested in.
However, some fans disagreed and shared their love for "Station 19." "Station 19 is better than Grey's at this point in time at least to me," one fan claimed.
"I agree I don't want to watch S19 to enjoy Grey's but I have to say that there's a lot of Station 19 hate on this sub and I never thought I would watch it, but one day I was bored and I decided to give it a try and now I love it and I'm obsessed with it," another fan admitted.
The Connection Between S19 And GA
"Station 19" delved into the lives of the men and women who work at Seattle Fire Station 19 while "Grey's Anatomy" followed the medical staff at Seattle's Grey-Sloan Memorial Hospital. They have a multitude of connections besides being set in the same location.
Due to their shared location, the S19 crew transported victims to Grey-Sloan Memorial Hospital. They frequently passed the patients over to the GA characters and sometimes were treated by the hospital's doctors.
However, the character cross-overs go deeper than that with several steamy relationships. The most common connection is Grey's Miranda Bailey's marriage to Ben Warren, who began on GA and switched over to S19 when he changed careers.
Jackson Avery of Grey's and Station 19's Vic Hughes dated for a while, and Grey's Carina DeLuca and Station 19's Maya Bishop's relationship is still going strong.
Is This The First Crossover Between The Shows?
Although each show can stand alone, they work better together.
The 17th season of "Grey's Anatomy" and season four of "Station 19" returned with a two-hour crossover episode in July. A teaser trailer was released with a big reveal and some cast members from earlier seasons also returned.

In an opening scene, Meredith Grey's late mother – Ellis Grey, played by Kate Burton – was seen giving her a pep talk in true stern Ellis fashion. Other surprise returns included Addison Montgomery – played by Kate Walsh. She returned as Derek Shepherd's ex-wife.
Both shows have had major national events that brought them together with raging wildfires and the coronavirus pandemic.
