Fair warning, there are a lot of spoilers coming up, so please read cautiously if you’ve not seen the premiere.
The season began with Murtagh having a flashback, where he is speaking to a young Jamie. In the flashback, Murtagh’s promised Jamie’s mother that he would follow him always, and help him through life. “I’ll always be with you,” he tells Jamie.
Next, the season opens to a new version of the theme song, showing a beautiful landscape.
Then we see Roger (Richard Rankin) shaving while Jamie (Sam Heughan) gives advice to get a closer shave. They’ve patched things up a bit for Brianna’s (Sophie Skelton) sake. Jamie gifted the couple the cabin for their own use, which is where the moment takes place. Roger tells Jamie he’s going to find a suitable trade to provide for Bri and their child.
Next, we hear Claire (Caitriona Balfe) talking about the community that Fraser’s Ridge has become. Jamie and Claire have been busy building their new home, and the people have stood by them and helped them to do so. On the day of Brianna’s wedding, everyone’s there to witness the special ceremony.

Jamie and Claire talk briefly about giving their daughter away, because Jamie has suspicions about Roger but is getting along with him for Brianna’s sake. Roger’s a scholar, not at all prepared for this new life he’s walked into. Claire reminds Jamie that anyone can be taught, even Roger.
Next, we see Jamie bring in some items for Brianna on her wedding day; including a set of pearls.
“It is a blessing you came to me,” Jamie tells his daughter.
“No matter where I am, I will always be your wee girl,” Brianna says to her father.
They have a drink, and he walks her outside to her future. Then Jamie and Claire reminisce about their wedding, and everybody partakes in the festivities.
Jocasta (Maria Doyle Kennedy) wishes the couple well and speaks with Roger before she leaves. Roger makes comments about wanting to go to their original time, and is clearly making Bri uncomfortable.
The wedding winds down, until Lord John tells Jamie that Stephen Bonnet has been sighted–the man who raped Brianna.
Jocasta and Murtagh meet for some loving, Roger sings to Brianna before their wedding night, and everyone’s getting laid. However Brianna continues to be worried about Bonnet’s return, clearly truly afraid as she lays awake the entire night.

Jocasta, the next day, tells Roger she’s leaving all of her land to Jeremiah, not Brianna. She’s upset over Roger’s religious choices, and claims that his religion is more prone to divorce.
He claims he’ll give all of his time to his new wife and child, and that he does not want her money nor does his son.
Later, Claire is working as a doctor, and Governor Tryon tells Jamie to honor his oath and bring in Murtagh. He wants to see him hung.
Jamie holds a little ceremony to garner oaths, and then we see Jamie speaking to Murtagh–telling him to break the oath that Murtagh made to his mother, and run for his own safety.
