Gigi Hadid And Zayn Malik Break Up, As Yolanda Is 'Very Protective' Of Daughter

Gigi Hadid and Zayn Malik are no longer an item!

According to multiple sources who spoke to People Magazine, the lovebirds have called it quits amid the abuse scandal involving the supermodel's mother, Yolanda Hadid.

While the insider didn't attribute the split to Yolanda and Zayn's altercation, the source said:

They are not together right now. They are both good parents though. They co-parent. Yolanda is of course very protective of Gigi. She wants the best for her daughter and grandchild.

The news of their breakup comes shortly after there were reports that the "One Direction" alum struck his girlfriend's mother during an altercation.

According to TMZ, who first reported the news, Yolanda accused the singer of striking her during an altercation that occurred at Zayn and Gigi's home.

Details of the incident weren't shared, but a source revealed it happened last week, and Yolanda stands by her account. The "Real Housewives of Beverly Hills" star was even considering filing a police report.

Following Yolanda's revelation, Zayn addressed the claims, denying hitting his daughter Khai's grandmother.

As The Blast reported, in a statement, he said, "I adamantly deny striking Yolanda Hadid and for the sake of my daughter I decline to give any further details and I hope that Yolanda will reconsider her false allegations and move towards healing these family issues in private."

In an earlier response to the situation which the "PILLOWTALK" crooner shared on social media, he claimed there was a "divisiveness" in the family, but his primary focus was on creating a safe and space for his 1-year-old daughter.

The 28-year-old also singer shed some light on the incident, disclosing that the altercation went down when Yolanda entered the home he shares with Gigi when the model was away.

He noted that the issue was supposed to be handled privately and suggested that Yolanda leaked it to the press. Nevertheless, he remains hopeful about finding healing.

Gigi has also subtly addressed the issue with her mother and boyfriend. A rep for the 26-year-old shared that she is solely focused on her daughter Khai at this moment and "asks for privacy."

Gigi and Zayn were first rumored as a couple in 2015 but didn't confirm their relationship until 2016 after being on the cover of Vogue's May issue.

However, after two years of dating, the pair broke up for the first time in 2018, sharing individual statements. However, by Valentine's Day 2020, the now-former lovers affirmed that they had rekindled their romance.

By April 2020, they announced that they were expecting, and their daughter Khai was born in September 2020. Little Khai turned one last month and had an intimate celebration with her family.
