Once Upon A Time In Hollywood was at the Oscars and so were its two main stars: Brad Pitt and Leonardo DiCaprio - both of whom were nominated for respective awards. Although the two actors are both powerhouse A-listers, this is the first film they both worked on together, giving us a dream team that took Hollywood way too long to bring together. Besides giving us a great movie, Once Upon A Time In Hollywood gave us a friendship that we were lucky enough to watch unfold as the two took the stage at various award shows like the Golden Globes, SAG Awards, and Academy Awards; shouting each other out and rooting each other on as the shows went on.

While Brad Pitt and Leonardo DiCaprio got their own nominations for the film, the two became each other's hype-men during interviews and awards ceremonies. Hopeful that the other would win, they became each other's biggest fans. It seems that each can recognize how respectable the other is and can't stop fanboying over each other's performance. Throughout the movie's press and awards circuit, the two did various interviews and Q&A sessions together, where they only had high praise to say about one another.

At a post-screening Q&A, Quentin Tarantino revealed that one of the most powerful scenes in the movie, a scene where Leo's character freaks out in his trailer, was improvised entirely by Leo, and was his idea in the first place. According to Tarantino, “It wasn’t in the script actually, so we never rehearsed it or anything.” To this, Brad doubles down on his friend's performance stating: "And I will go on record, it is one of the best meltdowns laid on film."

Brad and Leo have developed a close friendship off-screen since filming Once Upon A Time In Hollywood together, and the two pals even have nicknames for each other. According to Pitt, he calls Leo, LDC, while DiCaprio has a more intimate nickname for his co-star. While giving an acceptance speech at the Golden Globes, Brad passed on what the nickname DiCaprio gave him was. "Lover. He calls me lover,” Brad said. "It's a bit confusing, but I roll with it."

At the Oscars, Brad Pitt was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor, while Leonardo DiCaprio was up for Best Actor. While the Academy decided to give the Best Actor award to Joaquin Phoenix (Joker), Brad Pitt won his nomination for Best Supporting Actor. As he took the stage, the loyal friend could not help himself in giving credit to LDC. After addressing his many thanks to the industry and those who helped him along the way, Brad turned to DiCaprio saying, "I'll ride on your coattails any day, man. The view is fantastic."
