After Elton announced "I've just completely lost my voice—I can't sing, I've got to go," the crowd lovingly chanted "Elton, Elton." The outpouring of love didn't stop with the audience, however. Fans continued to show their support for the star online, saying comments like "You did an amazing job, sir. Rest now, recover, be patient. We’ll be here waiting for you!" and "Get well soon dear Elton." Although Elton himself was greatly disappointed, none of his fans seemed to mind.

As for right now, Elton is taking time to rest, relax, and recover. Elton continues to show why he is a legend in the industry. The recent concerts are a part of John’s Farewell Yellow Brick Road tour. Upon finishing his shows in Australia, Elton will be traveling to the United States and Canada. John's farewell tour has been going on since September of 2018, when the singer announced he would be retiring from touring in order to spend more time with his family, specifically raising his two young boys. To date, the tour has consisted of over three hundred shows all over the world.

Not Slowing Down

Despite his recent health setback, Elton shows no sign of slowing down. His career is still soaring, even five decades in. Prior to his Auckland performance, he had just performed at the Academy Awards, where he won an Oscar for best original song for his theme song for the movie Rocketman. The film was a huge success, also being nominated for two Golden Globes. Taron Egerton, who played Elton in the film, won the Golden Globe for Best Performance by an Actor in a Motion Picture - Musical or Comedy. Elton John is a staple in the music industry who definitely won't be going anywhere anytime soon.
