Nick Cannon takes lessons learned in life very seriously, at least when it comes to things like marriage and tying the knot.

For the multifaceted star, he doesn't believe he'll ever entertain the idea of exchanging vows in the future as a result of the failed marriage he had with pop legend, Mariah Carey.

Speaking to Entertainment Tonight's Lauren Zima, he shared his reasoning behind avoiding the idea of marriage in the future, all together, as well as, what his dating life looks like, at least at the moment.

Cannon married Carey in April of 2008, eventually welcoming into the world a pair of twins, Moroccan and Monroe. And while the addition of children can oftentimes make a couple close, it seemed to have the opposite effect for Cannon and Carey, as the singer filed for divorce only three years later.

Although the couple did reconcile their differences, at least temporarily, it wouldn't last, with their divorce being finalized in 2016. According to Cannon, the experience left a horrible taste in his mouth, leading him to never want to deal with a similar situation again.

'I Don't Believe in Marriage Anymore. My Mindset Has Changed'

In speaking to Lauren Zima of Entertainment Tonight, Cannon revealed he doesn't like doing things 'he's not good at', which seems to encompass marriage. "I don't believe in marriage anymore," the 39-year-old said. "My mindset has changed. I have done that. I don't like doing things that I am not good at."

Cannon analogously compared his failed marriage to jumping out of an airplane and the parachute not deploying. "If you jumped out of a plane on time and it did not work out -- you would not do it again, would you," he continued. "I barely survived. Why would I jump out of the plane again?"

While Cannon seems to have given up on the idea of marriage, he's still committed to being the best father he can be for his two children, as well as, working on continuing to build his career.

"I mean, I am still working. I am growing. I was a broken soul, but now I am back out on the scene," he explained.

"I'm trying to fix myself. I'm trying to be the best me I can be, the best dad I can be, the best entrepreneur and young media mogul that I can be. So I'm really just focused on me and being the best, because for some reason I haven't gotten this relationship thing right. I'm not good at it. I don't like doing stuff that I'm not good at."

Former AGT Host Still Wants to Date, Find Someone Special to Connect With

Cannon still has an interest in the dating game, but he wants that person to be someone special, someone that he can really connect to, and especially not an influencer.

"I am a hopeless romantic," Cannon shared. "So I was like, to be able to engage with someone and kinda just have a real moment opposed to always being about, 'Oh, I'm searching, I'm looking, I'm single. I'm trying to fall back on that."

The former America's Got Talent host just recently went on a blind date, so we'll just have to wait and see how that went. Maybe he'll change his mind about a long-term future with someone?
